Denise Hunter continues her Riverbend series with youngest sister, Avery Robinson's story. As older brother, Cooper, and her best friend, Katie, plan their wedding, Avery begins to feel the weight of her decision to remain single.

At 9 years old, Avery watched helplessly as her mother died from the disease that had been attacking her body for years. She went to medical school so that she would never again feel that helpless in a situation that required a doctor. She also made the decision to never marry, never have children, because she knows that she has a 50 percent chance of being a carrier of the disease. Until Wes Garrett collapses - literally on her doorstep - she's really never been tempted to change her decision. Can she hold fast to her choices when all she wants are Wes' arms around her?

Wes Garrett is hiking the Appalachian Trail in honor of the friend who gave his life protecting Wes. Halfway to the goal, a virus fells him. Fortunately, he's able to make it to the clinic doorstep in Riverbend, where Dr. Robinson takes him in. Feeling strongly about being debt free, he offers to rehab a house on the clinic property. As he works for Avery and spends time with her, he begins to wonder if the plans he's made in his mind are the plans God has for him. He's falling hard for Dr. Avery but he's mentally committed to another, someone he's met only through letters and phone calls. How can he choose when he loves them both?

Avery is in a super tough spot - one she only makes worse by sticking her head in the sand. I love her dad and his way of offering advice but not forcing it on his kids - he places two pennies (his two cents) on the counter. If they pick it up, he gives them his "two cents". If they don't, he says nothing. He did this with Cooper in Riverbend Gap, and again with Avery in Mulberry Hollow. It was a sweet moment in both books, and there was so much wisdom in the advice he gave.

If you've read Denise Hunter's books before - and I think I've read them all - you'll definitely want to pick this sweet romance up. There's plenty of slow-burn romance, and a lovely HEA at the end. Readers of sweet romance can't go wrong with Denise Hunter. I absolutely recommend this!

Colour me in love! I couldn't stop until I was done. I loved everything about the book.

The settings was beautiful especially the hiking trail.

The characters were so relatable. I saw grace illustrated n this book like I've never seen before.

The story was super captivating, inspiring and heartwarming. I had to finish it before I could put it down.

    Highly, highly recommended.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Happy, achy sigh. Denise Hunter has such a wonderful/terrible way of messing with my heart when she writes a romance. I always come away feeling slightly discombobulated and giddy with relief because sometimes her happily ever afters don't seem achievable. :-)

While this is the second book in the Riverbend series it can easily be read as a standalone. I know because I chickened out of reading book one (love triangle involving brothers) but I was able to jump in here without any problem (and so much less angst! lol)

Love the way the romance develops. It feels like we have all the time in the world even though both Avery and Wes are on a tight timeline. From that harrowing first meet to the gradual shift from doctor/patient to friends to...what never can be....I was completely invested and on tenterhooks. And for those of you who know I am love triangle phobic, this one isn't quite that so it's all good. It comes close, but not really -- and that's all I can say without spoilers so you'll just have to read Mulberry Hollow to figure out what I mean.

Both Avery and Wes have personal demons to wrestle with before they can be open to a lasting relationship -- and those demons are monsters! Hunter really captures the emotional turmoil that provides the stumbling blocks to these two following through on their feelings. My heart is still bruised from all the pummelling.

A faith-filled inspirational romance with lots of heart.

This is the second book in this fantastic series. I have really enjoyed reading this series so far and cannot wait until the next book comes out. This book focuses on Avery who is a doctor. She became a doctor after watching her mother die due to a genetic disease. Due to the uncertainty if she has the disease, she has chosen to work hard, but not marry. Wes is hiking the Appalachian trail in memory of another person. After becoming sick, he meets Avery. Both have issues of things holding them back from each other and living life to the fullest. This book would be a great beach read. I highly recommend this book and know you will not be disappointed!

***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.
