Publisher's Description

New York Times bestselling author, Big Sister Emeritus, and Chief BFF Jen Hatmaker returns with another round of hilarious tales, shameless honesty, and hope for the woman who has forgotten her moxie.

In this highly anticipated new book, beloved author Jen Hatmaker parlays her own triumphs and tragedies into a sigh of relief for all normal, fierce women everywhere. Whether it’s the time she drove to the wrong city for a fourth-grade field trip ("Why are we in San Antonio?") or the way she learned to forgive (God was super clear: Pray for this person every day, which was the meanest thing He ever said to me. I was furious.), she offers a reminder to those of us who sometimes hide in the car eating crackers that we do have the moxie to get back up and get back out. We can choose to live undaunted "in the moment" no matter what the moments hold, and lead vibrant, courageous, grace-filled lives.

Author Bio

Jen Hatmaker is the author of the New York Times bestseller Of Mess and Moxie (plus twelve other books) and the host of the For the Love! with Jen Hatmaker podcast. Jen is a mom to five, a sought-after speaker, and a delighted resident of Austin, Texas, where she and her family are helping keep Austin weird.

Delightful as always. Real. Honest. Jen doesn't hide her thoughts, emotions, failures, ugly side. She lays it out there and hopes you can relate because you are not perfect either. This book is more geared toward moms with kids at home, but my kids are grown and I still enjoyed. She gives encouragement to women and to moms with kids at home, that you don't have to be perfect. That you will have highs and lows but keep going the best you can. Admit failures and start again. Celebrate and enjoy the highs. Keep going. Life is messy but women have moxie. Life gets crazy and is not perfect and does not go the way you plan. But women of God have strength, fortitude, tenacity and mettle to get back up again when knocked down, to bounce back when crushed, to start again after a failure, to forgive even when we don't want to,

Each chapter starts with a quote from a famous person, that ties in with the chapter theme. Her wit and humor make the hard lessons more palatable. Sprinkled throughout the book are some her favorite recipes (ones that keep her sane because her children devour them).

Ladies, please read this latest release from Jen for encouragement, inspiration, and fun.

Jen Hatmaker has a new book out titled Of Mess and Moxie with the tagline of "Wrangling delight out of this wild and glorious life." In this new book, Hatmaker encourages women to go beyond their faults and life a live filled with nerve and determination.

If you are looking for a book that will be highly convicting and motivating, this is not the one. Now, that is not such a bad concept since Hatmaker's writing style is a very conversational and "best-friend" like. She has written a very easy to read book that talks to you like you are enjoying a cup of sweet tea with her as a friend and not so much preaching at you to "do this."

I can't say that I love this book, but I feel that it's fairly good overall. It's extremely easy and quick to read and you have the feeling that Hatmaker can completely relate to the trials and struggles you are facing since she is very transparent and open about those in her life. She even has joke and makes fun of herself a little in this book. She is very real and relatable.

You will laugh, ponder, and even think "me too," while reading this book. Hatmaker shows you that life can and should be good despite all of the twists, turns and sidetracks that will come your way on this crazy journey.

(Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.)

Absolutely loved this book! The way Jen writes, it's almost as if you're there with her. Whether it's sitting on her front porch or at her dinner table, she communicates the highs and lows of being a woman so honestly. It's messy work but after reading Of Mess and Moxie, Jen made being woman more bearable.

I'm not a wife or mother so there were parts of Jen's life I couldn't relate to. Overall though, there were a lot of points throughout her stories that I'll carry with me. There's no better comfort than knowing there's a woman out there that totally "gets you."

Discouragement, heartbreak, failure, and suffering. We've all experienced these at some points in our life. Yet, we're the same people who can experience victory, perseverance, joy, and rebirth. This is moxie. Jen is our cheerleader.

Ladies, we got this. As hard as it is sometimes, we're in this together.

Of Mess and Moxie will make you "LOL", literally.

    Highly recommended!

"Of Mess and Moxie" has something for everyone no matter where you are in life. This book is like all the conversations you have with your best friend placed inside a self help book. Its not preachy and telling you everything you are doing is wrong but instead tells you that you are strong and doing things just as they should be. It seemed much deeper than many of Jen's previous books still has humor and sarcasm throughout. A must read and share book!

Once again Jen writes a funny personable story for all of her friends. I feel like she's writing just for me and has a window into my life. She knows my insecurities and my joys.

She makes it okay to be the best me that I can be and not be perfect.

"I prefer watching Netflix and eating snacks" just like Jen and my kids eat cereal for dinner too and fight with each other and the dog has never spent a night outside.

Of Mess and Moxie is a must read.

I received and advanced copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
