Why does it seem as if some prayers work and others don't? Are we doing something wrong? How do we keep from losing heart and giving up on the very weapon God has given us to not lose heart?
In Moving Mountains, John Eldredge explores these questions to deepen our understanding of our relationship with God in prayer. Only when we realize that prayer is not just asking God to do something, but a partnership, will we begin to pray more effectively and with power. You'll also discover more about different types of prayer--from the intimacy of listening prayer, and inner-healing prayer to prayers of intervention, consecration and warfare. Your prayer life and your world will never be the same.

Why Some Prayers Work, Why Some Dont, and How You and God Can Change Things for Good
How would it feel to enter into prayer with confidence and assurancecertain that God heard you and that your prayers would make a difference?
It would likely feel amazing and unfamiliar. Thats because often our prayers seem to be met with silence or dont appear to change anything. Either response can lead to disappointment or even despair in the face of our ongoing battles and unmet longingsespecially when we dont know if were doing something wrong or if some prayers just dont work.
New York Times bestselling author John Eldredge confronts these issues directly in Moving Mountains by offering a hopeful approach to prayer that is effective, relational, and rarely experienced by most Christians.
In a world filled with danger, adventure, and wonder, we have at our disposal prayers that can transform the events and issues that matter most to us and to God. Moving Mountains shows you how to experience the power of daily prayer, learn the major types of prayersincluding those of intervention, consecration, warfare, and healingand to discover the intimacy of the cry of the heart prayer, listening prayer, and praying Scripture.
Things can be different, and you personally have a role to play with God in bringing about that change through prayer. It may sound too good to be true, but this is your invitation to engage in the kind of prayers that can move God's heart as well as the mountains before you.
kd3 Stars Out Of 5Prayer 301November 8, 2016kdQuality: 3Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3Our small group has been using this book. The ideas are good, but the writing style was hard to understand at times. We struggled with some of the concepts for quite a well before figuring out what he meant. It has definitely improved our prayer life however and is worth the read.

I was very pleasantly surprised. I have read a lot of books about prayer and this has some fresh insights and a perspective that I haven't read elsewhere. I appreciated John's down to earth writing style and the passion he has for the Lord and for prayer that are clearly evident throughout the book.
The Truth2 Stars Out Of 5HmmmmMay 24, 2016The TruthQuality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2The first half was rather tedious with a lot of fill - from movies, books, etc. The author appeared to me to be rambling off subject. Second half was much more to the point. Interesting. But, not based on facts, rather educated opinion. Left me scratching my head versus reassured.
