This book is like a warm arm around my shoulder. A sweet hand guiding me along through the weary and blessed years of motherhood. It has gently but with powerful urgency caused me to reexamine my purpose in motherhood. I matter to God, and His eternal purpose throughout the generations is to bring Him glory and make His great name known... even in our mundane days. I've been given a new sense of eyes and a new outlook on looking at the small moments of my day (which are really the big, eternal things).

I highly recommend this unique book on motherhood. If you feel like you've read all the books on motherhood, I would urge you to read this one. It's very different than any of the other books on motherhood I've read. It's a truly special and life changing read!

So I just re-started this book. Yes, it's that good...I'm reading it for the second time in 2 months. Why? It's like a soothing balm for my battered, weary heart. Some of the truths in it were life altering, while others were gentle reminders of lessons long since learned by set to the side. September provides insight, encouragement, and motivation absent of judgment, soaked in love, and fully Truth. The advice is both encouraging and practical. What a difference this book has made not only in my heart, but our home.

So, I just finished reading September McCarthys Why Motherhood Matters, and my first impression is that I need to read this again. Like just pick it up and start over at the beginning. There is a lot to digest in this book. So much practical, essential, and spiritual advice for moms. I underlined and dog-eared and will attempt to apply her wisdom to my very real life. I especially appreciate Septembers humility and the way she is honest about the hard work of motherhood and the difficult seasons she has been through. In the chapter entitled {Why} Raising Responsible Children Requires Work, September says that she is afraid that we will think that All this woman keeps telling me is how much work motherhood is going to be. But I found the opposite to be true. It is refreshing to me as a mom of four little kids to know that motherhood is a difficult job that requires my best. September doesnt pretend that motherhood is easy for her, but she encourages other moms to persevere even when it is hard, because she believes so deeply in the purpose and calling and reward of motherhood. Ladies (and any brave gents), go ahead and pick up a copy of Why Motherhood Matters. You and your family will be blessed by this book and its author.

Disclosure: I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. (And, Im so glad I did )

As a mama to a little, I'm always looking for resources to encourage and challenge me in this season of life. I want to know that I'm not alone in this journey and love to glean from mamas who have gone before me. There is hope and there is joy in this complicated, hard, messy thing called Motherhood and that's exactly what you will find on the pages of this book. Not only is September authentic with her words, she also challenges us to honor God with this ministry of motherhood, allowing Him to shape us and our children. She's encouraging and practical, providing ideas and steps to take towards purposeful mothering, reminding us that there is value in what we do daily and that motherhood really does matter. ( I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.)
