Please do a bit of your own homework on the author, Adam Hamilton, before you purchase this study, to make sure you agree with his loose approach to scripture. We did not, and our class only made it to the 2nd session before we dropped it. As an example, in the accompanying leader guide to this DVD he states that Biblical accounts such as that of Moses are about actual historical figures, "but the story is more like a film 'based on actual events' than a documentary." Elsewhere, he says the plagues should be seen as a "satirical confrontation or battle between God and the Egyptian deities", arguing that they could have been disasters with a naturalistic rather than a miraculous source. One last quote: "The temples at Luxor and Karnak show how the structure of Egyptian temples was used as a model for the Tent of Meeting, culminating in the Holy of Holies." He argues that God inspired Moses to build the Tabernacle, and then Moses designed it following what he knew from his upbringing around Egyptian temples. If you trust in the reliability and authority of scripture, I'd pass on this one.
