lookingup5 Stars Out Of 5Makes a wonderful gift (looks more expensive than the actual cost!)January 17, 2015lookingupQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have purchased at least 10 or more of these from CBD, and keep on hand to give away as the opportunity arises. They are such a nice gift for the price. I have used Morning and Evening KJV for many years personally, and it never gets dull. There is much rich instruction for all believers, as well as encouragement. Spurgeon also points out the way of salvation in some of his devotions. The other one I give away is The Chequebook of the Bank of Faith by Spurgeon - another wonderful (but shorter) devotional that makes a great gift.

Lora5 Stars Out Of 5Inspirational and Motivating DevotionalNovember 1, 2014LoraQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I absolutely love this devotional. Spurgeon has a way of painting pictures in your mind that you can really hold onto as you go about your day. He helps bring new life to scripture passages and then relates them to you as an individual. The devotional pasages are just long enough, taking about a minute or two to read (and then 24 hours to ponder). When I purchased the book, I remember thinking it was too bad they didn't release a genuine leather version, I had never bought this imitation leather before. I really like it though. It's really soft and has a suade-like feel in your hand. I find myself constantly rubbing my hands across it. It seems well-made so I'm hoping it will last a good long time with a lot of use. The pages are gilt-edged as well, a nice touch, and there is a silk ribbon so you can open right up to the day you need. I'm thrilled with the purchase and am going to buy one for my father for Christmas so I have someone to talk to about that days devotional. I highly recommend it. One thing I should mention is that Spurgeon was a Calvinist, though I consider him a "minor" calvinist because he didn't agree with the entire Calvinist doctrine. I've read several of his books and his beliefs coincide with mine about 95% of the time, the few deviations do not keep me from reading him because he's so inspirational and I'm aware of the calvinist beliefs and can spot them immediately so they don't confuse me. I've been reading this devotional for probably over a month now and his insights and teachings so far are purely Baptist. I've found nothing I disagree with.
