More time. More sleep. More attention. More money. More love. More passion. More ... more ... more. What do you crave more of?
Tammie Head offers a glimpse into her own life and story of how she found "more" in Christ. Her amazing story of redemption from the "trash can" of life to the cherished daughter of a King is worth every word.
Her latest book, More: From Messes to Miracles is a powerful book filled with awe, angst, but most of all Delight. Delight in the One who redeems ALL things.
For me the best part of the book was Tammie's wonderful and gracious attitude. She feels like a friend you'd invite over for coffee for MORE. Her sense of passion and wonder is infectious. Her words are encouraging and inspiring. If you've ever wondered if there is more out there, more you were meant to be doing, or just curious if there is a way out of where you are at, then you need to sit down with Tammie. She will expand the fire (whether it's a flicker or a flame) in you to be all God created you to be.
The next best part of the book was the gorgeous and fun word art at the beginning of each chapter. They are both beautiful to look at and wonderful to absorb their truths into your life.
I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to others. My only concern was who. The beginning part of the book has such a powerful witness I wanted to share it with a couple people who are hurting and need the grace of God in their lives. Tammie's testimony will rule out anyone's concern that "God couldn't love someone like me." Tammie is living, breathing proof that the opposite is true.
However, the last part of the book is definitely penned to believers. She challenges those in the faith to reach out for "more"; that our walk with God isn't about surviving. It's about thriving. That living a dutiful Christian life is never what God intended. He is totally ok working with, touching and believing in those of us who are "messy" through and through. Tammie exhorts us as believers to stop stretching our muscles, straining our eyes and over-exhausting our spirits to appease us, others or God. That He desires only our worship. Our devotion. And our surrendered heart.

Melissa3 Stars Out Of 5A Lot of TruthMarch 31, 2015MelissaQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 2This book is full of truth that we need to grasp. If we did that would change everything. I do believe God has so much more for us and we tend to settle for what is in front of us. A huge mistake.
Tammie has a story of redemption that is amazing. I love hearing real life stories of Jesus just wrecking someones life in the best way possible.
On page 39 Tammie says something the made me stop and think. She is talking about Satan when she says he: Honestly, he is worshipped by people living less than what Gods Word says.
Wow. That stopped me. How many times have I lived as less than Gods Word? How many times a day? More than I want to admit.
On the flip side I do have to say I struggled to track with Tammie in this book. I felt it jumped around a lot and I didnt know what time in her life she was talking about or when things actually took place. That was a struggle for me. When it comes to timelines and peoples stories I like to understand them clearly and know the order in which everything happened. I felt it jumped from one point, to another, back to another. Because of that I was a bit distracted because I kept trying to make sense of her story.
Like I said, there are some great truths in this book and it might just have been me that struggled with the timeline thing. I would say this book is for someone just starting out in their faith and wanting to discover more, how to go deeper.
A copy of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: Over 65Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5God has more for youMarch 5, 2015bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Don't we want more? Don't we long for the miraculous in our lives, for God's wonderful plan? Instead, we have messy lives, ones that are not so pretty.
Tammie Head knows about going from a messy life to the miraculous. She shares her own story of sexual abuse when young, dropping out of school, a short marriage, attempt at suicide, being a stripper, a good marriage and finding Jesus. As she says of herself, I had become a walking miracle. (31)
Hers is a fresh voice, full of enthusiasm and encouragement. She doesn't write using theological jargon. She speaks right from her heart. She's the kind of woman who encourages us to throw ourselves at Jesus' feet and surrender our guts out messiness and all to the One who promises to fulfill us beyond our imaginations. (16)
I really liked Tammie's writing style. She gives the raw truth with no sugar coating. She give straight talk about sin, conviction, and repentance. She is candidly honest about her own life, like the time she prayed for a drowned man to come back to life (he did not). She has perceptive teaching on so many issues, like doing ministry to be noticed, or having a critical spirit. She even writes about battling the devil.
This is an encouraging book for women. No matter where you have been or what you have done. God has more for you.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Icon Media for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
