Corny And Unrealistic But The Two Main Characters Are Likeable
January 11, 2017
Corny, unrealistic, and not as attractive a TV movie as it could have been, as the style has advanced to nowadays. But everyone tries hard, and the two main characters are likeable and more attractive than the rest of the film. Pleasantly multi-generational and wholesome like a Waltons family and romance drama, this is family suitable and perhaps teens/young adults might not notice or mind its credulity straining and unfulfilled potential, and be drawn in to follow the engaging teens introduced at the beginning later reconnecting as adults played by other actors.
Candace Cameron-Bure goes on to make other Hallmark TV movies, as all-American pretty & energetic as a cheerleader, seeming to play herself and cries amazingly beautifully & convincingly. The handsome male lead seems genuinely a nice fellow. But Tom Arnold sounds like he has a headcold through the entire film set on an unattractive lot & rooms with a couple of shots of Vermont thrown in lacking even a good Christmas background music soundtrack making me realize how far even TV filming has advanced in my lifetime from this disappointing but harmless Christmas-themed story.
