With the clock ticking toward Jennifer's impending sale, Lee, accompanied by foster daughter, Katie, and Jennifer's grandfather, begins his own search. As the search by Lee, the Maui Police, and the federal government intensifies, beautiful Katie ends up in the crosshairs of the traffickers. Can Lee save both his bride and his future daughter? What if he has to make a choice? If Jennifer is sold, could she kill herself to avoid a life filled with degradation and unspeakable horror? If she did, would God forgive her?

KatyTennesseeGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Exciting story of non-stop actionJuly 6, 2014KatyTennesseeGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Moon Over Maalaea Bay is an exciting story of non-stop action sandwiched between the romance of Lee and Jennifer. Even on their honeymoon, this couple continues the battle against the international trafficking of young women.
In this third book of the Pure Genius Series, we have the opportunity to get to know a wonderful secondary character, Granddad, who is Jennifer's grandfatherââ¬âa 70-year-old gentleman who holds a sixth-degree black belt. He is quite a man of steel nerves.
What I like best about Moonlight Over Maalaea Bay is that whatever the problem, Jennifer and Lee go to the one Problem Solver who has all the answers.
Here is a quote:
"There was One Who was all-powerful, One full of love, grace, and mercy that knew no limits. Lee closed his eyes and took his concerns to that all-powerful source."
No matter the harrowing circumstance, Lee, Jennifer, and Katie live with the expectation that God will provide for their needs. When He does, they give Him the credit.
ADMeyerOmaha, NEAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5An adventure with purpose!June 19, 2014ADMeyerOmaha, NEAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5H.L. Wegley has done a great job - again. I have read all of the books in this series so far and have enjoyed each one. He has created characters I care about, a problem worthy of attention and too big to ignore and a dose of faith discovery wrapped up in an intriguing story line.
He has brought apologetics purposefully into his writing in an unobtrusive manner that does not detract from the story. A fun ride with purpose. You are sure to enjoy this 3rd book of the Pure Genius Series.
JodybooksAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Quite a ride!May 28, 2014JodybooksAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Who needs Steve McGarrett and Danno when you can immerse yourself in Jennifer Akihara and Lee Brandt? Hawaii 5-0 has nothing on this fast-paced and exciting story. I was so invested in the action from the get-go that I didn't even realize, until I stopped to take a breath, that I loved the characters as well.
This third installment in a series, called Pure Genius, stands quite well on its own. Barely nine hours into their marriage, and before the honeymoon even begins, Jennifer is kidnapped by an international trafficking group. She'd thwarted their operation earlier and they are bent on revenge. Add in Lee's struggle to find her, the FBI, the Maui Police Department, ruthless criminals and a stunning Hawaiian backdrop. This intense thriller, with a touch of romance, tugged at my heartstrings and rose my blood pressure. Highly Recommended.
Angelian57Baldwinsville, NYAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Another hit from this authorMay 23, 2014Angelian57Baldwinsville, NYAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Another action packed book with Christian overtones. Once this book grabs you, it doesn't let you go until the very end. Jennifer gets kidnapped just as her honeymoon starts, and from there- no one is taking a breath. A good, clean read that takes you on a ride in a race car around the track and back again. If you read "Hide and Seek" and/or "On the Pineapple Express", you are going to want to continue the journey with this book. I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.

Lee Brandt sees his dreams crashing and turning into a nightmare on his wedding night in Maui in Moon over Maalaea Bay by H.L. Wegley. Jennifer Akihara is kidnapped on her wedding night in Maui by an international trafficking group and they have plans to take revenge on her by selling her into slavery. Jennifer had earlier stopped their trafficking plans which makes them want to ruin her by using her for other purposes. Lee, along with his foster daughter Katie and Jennifer's father, begins the search for Jennifer with the help of the Maui police and the federal government. The twist happens when Katie is also taken by the traffickers. Will Lee succeed in saving both Jennifer and Katie? Will Jennifer be able to survive if she is sold?
This is a compelling story of mystery and suspense and relationships that will keep readers riveted. Shifting the focus from the sweet romance of Lee and Jennifer and then switching over to the nightmare of Jennifer being kidnapped has been done effortlessly by the author without it sounding forced. The action and drama in the theme with its innumerable twists and turns help in keeping up the pace of the story. All the characters are well defined and Maui as the backdrop of the story gives it an exotic vibe. The interrogation scenes in the story add the much needed punch to the plot and the romance and suspense make it a bittersweet read. I found the story compelling. There are a lot of things happening simultaneously which the author has woven together well.
