Canuk4 Stars Out Of 5Mom's Night OutOctober 28, 2016CanukQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Good clean humour both men and women can relate to. I like the ending that is an example that you never know who and what circumstances that God might use to help you through a tough time.
JamesAlbany,NYAge: 45-54Gender: male3 Stars Out Of 5mostly pros, some consOctober 21, 2016JamesAlbany,NYAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3love the Erwin brothers films. they address deep, important topics ( 'Woodlawn' - racial unity and healing through the incomparable Gospel, 'October Baby' - Pro Life and the importance of life, and "Mom's Night Out' - about the importance of moms and encouraging them when they're feeling a 'losing battle'.). the first two were dramas, this was there first crack at comedy. they were trying to use comedy to keep it light and still address a huge, important topic. i think they did a very commendable job. the film does make me laugh. (i've watched it twice). production, acting, excellent. the well known names did what they do best, very professional. on the down side, two things bothered me: first, a supporting character (played by country music singer- and good actor- Trace Atkins) gives a pep talk to the main mommy character when she's feeling down. the encouragement is right on and should go out to every mom -'keep doing your best, mom's are SO important'. and he implies that his own mom is the only way he made it through a tough youth. but he states that she repeated to him every night 'no matter how far you run away, no matter how far from God you are, Jesus will always be there with open arms'. true, but no balance to that statement: we 'need to strive to enter in at the narrow gate' Mathew 7:13. we are left to think the character is spiritually safe, when he is clearly backslidden. many in the West are ignoring God's heart cry in this Scripture. i believe that the producers did not want to get 'too heavy' in a comedy but we cannot leave out Truth for the sake of production...the second concern i had was when the main character's son was pumping his fist and yelling 'destroy!' (when he was about to be babysat by his dad and friend who play violent video games). this was meant to produce a response from the mom, which it did (with humorous effect). but, again, a laugh not worth sending the wrong message to the kids who will be watching. the grown men are not corrected for bringing the wrong influence into the home. many will argue, but statistics and history don't lie. all in all, aside from those PG concerns that kids need to be talked to about, it was a humorous, entertaining and well placed accolade the the greatness and nobility of motherhood. 'the hand that rocks the cradle rules the World'. (William Ross Wallace -19th century poem). blessings to all as you make decisions on your families' viewing and blessings and thanks to all the moms (and dads). : )

Becca5 Stars Out Of 5One of my all time favorite movies!November 16, 2015BeccaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am totally amazed that there are any one, two or three star ratings of this movie. I love, love, love this movie! We saw it in the theater as a family, and we now own it. I watch this over and over and laugh my head off. It's so funny! It's also poignant and full of grace. I am a mom of three boys, and while mine aren't young anymore, I just love the message of family, and the message that says we moms need to offer ourselves grace because the Lord has already forgiven our sins. The other message is that God is the One who is at work in our lives conforming us to his image.
I just thought the movie was so well done and that it had a broad appeal in the wider community of non-believers. I love to laugh, love feel good movies, and love movies that remind me it is all of grace that I am here, and this movie did all three for me.
