Native New Englander Carla Olson Gade writes adventures of the heart with historical roots from her home amid the rustic landscapes of Maine. With seven books in print, she is always imagining more stories and enjoys bringing her tales to life with historically authentic settings and characters. An avid reader, amateur genealogist, photographer, and house plan hobbyist, Carlas great love (next to her family) is historical research. Though you might find her tromping around an abandoned homestead, an old fort, or interviewing a docent at a historical museum, its easier to connect with her online at carlaolsongade.com.
ECPA-bestselling author Gina Welborn wrote public service announcements until she fell in love with writing romances. A moderately obsessive fan of Community and Once Upon a Time, Gina lives in Oklahoma with her pastor husband, their five Okie-Hokie children, a box-lab, two rabbits, four guinea pigs, and a fancy Russian dwarf hamster named Tom Bob Deucalion.
GazpachoHarrison, MIAge: 55-65Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5A Collection of Short Stories for ChristmasOctober 4, 2017GazpachoHarrison, MIAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This book is a collection of four short romance stories centered around Christmas time: 'Tis the Season by Carla Olson Gade, Mercy Mild by Gina Welborn, Midnight Clear by Lisa Karon Richardson, and Comfort and joy by Jennifer AiLee. All were published in 2013. Each story covers a different period of time but all in the same location: Schooley's Mountain, New Jersey. All are romances but also involve children, usually orphans finding homes. These are the type of stories you don't mind if the children read over your shoulder. They are squeaky clean and sweet.
The basic theme is good people overcoming adversity. From historical romance to contemporary romance, each of these stories fit into this book as part of a whole. Reading this, I felt a sense of continuity that was comfortable. There's a sense of community even if it spans a couple centuries. Each is the perfect length for a short, feel good Christmas read.
There's a lot of fun packed in these four short stories. I had a good laugh over the antics of the children. The romances were sweet. The drama was mild in keeping with the Christmas spirit. And God was honored in each of the stories in many special ways. Overall this is a very pleasant book.

Fitzysmom4 Stars Out Of 5November 20, 2013FitzysmomI'm not usually drawn to collections of novellas, but when it comes to Christmas stories I'm in! I love to curl up on a cold afternoon and be able to finish a Christmas story in one sitting. This collection of stories was the perfect match for that desire.
All four of the stories take place in Schooley's Mountain, New Jersey. The first story is set in 1820 and the final story is present day. Each one has a nice little romance going on and it also involves children that have in some aspect become orphans.
I enjoyed reading three of the four stories. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the one that I didn't prefer. It just didn't happen to catch my fancy on that day. I'm going to skip naming which story it was and leave that up to you to decide for yourself.
If you want a quick little Christmas themed read I think that you will enjoy Mistletoe Memories. On most of the sites that I have looked at it is being offered at a great price! What a nice little treat for you or the book lover on your list.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
IreneUnited States5 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyed Each Story!November 8, 2013IreneUnited StatesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I thoroughly enjoyed these stories! Set around the holidays they each will give you a bit of holiday cheer. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I thought the stories were all well written and made me want to read more by the authors who wrote them. I liked the time periods of each story and the descriptions were excellent without filling the pages with too much detail. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy the simple Lifetime and Hallmark movies around the holidays. I would definitely buy this book as a present for a friend, knowing that they will enjoy it!
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
