DMSELFAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Great story by a young authorMarch 21, 2017DMSELFAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Mission of a Lifetime is not a the typical action adventure story you would think. What makes this book so unique is its author.
Priscilla J. Krahn is able to take her perspective on life as a 20 year old author and incorporate it into the main character's life. Not many people can portray the true thoughts, feelings, and behaviour of a young adult, much less a young man. I feel his sorrow and doubt.
But this author not only delivers a great character and an extremely well written character arc, but also a fast paced adventure. I'm in the middle of the steamy jungle. I hear the sounds and the silence. My heart races along with the characters.
Set in the jungles of Columbia, Willie is determined to find his parents, but at what cost? From the many hazards of the jungle to the dangers of an organized cartel, Willie has to make spur of the moments decisions and still be able to stay true to his faith.
The pacing of the book will have the reader slowly settling in for a good read to suddenly turning pages to see if Willie and Alano can escape the pitfall they fell into.
On a deeper note, this book brought to light many questions about faith. How far is too far? Can we truly rely upon God? Will He see us through hardships and danger? Can we overcome our past? Is forgiveness really the answer?
The ending is more than I had expected. It was more than I thought anyone could ever write. It truly showed the awesome power of God at work.
Is this a recommended read? Absolutely!
I would classify this as an Young Adult book that every reader would enjoy. Mission of a Lifetime was a joy to read.

Tell us a little about yourself. I'm the youngest of seven children and I grew up on a farm in northern Minnesota. I started writing when I was thirteen and had my first book self-published at seventeen. In addition to reading and writing, I love our family farm, coffee, brownies, a good movie and visiting with friends. My goal in writing, is that each of my books will not only entertain, but also impact the reader with a Biblical message.
What was your motivation behind this project? I got the original inspiration for MISSION OF A LIFETIME from a dream I had, but once I started writing it, it quickly changed and took on it's own story. Willie's struggle with guilt and fear woven throughout the story was a reflection of some of the things that God had been teaching me. When I started writing it, I knew I had to finish it. I knew that Willie's story of courage, faith, and forgiveness would inspire and help others.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that when people read Willie's story, that they come away with a better understanding of serving God where ever He puts you. I hope that Willie's struggles can encourage others to accept the trials in their life and not let the pain hold them back. I hope that MISSION OF A LIFETIME encourages people to allow their struggles to push them forward into spiritual growth and victory.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? When I started writing MISSION OF A LIFETIME, I had no idea how much of Willie's story was connected with my own. The struggles Willie has with questioning why God allowed a tragedy in his life is a struggle that I've faced. As I prayed about MISSION OF A LIFETIME, and went through the weeks of editing and perfecting it, God taught me the same lesson that Willie learned. That God is good all the time, even when we can't see the purpose. God always loves us, and we can trust Him fully.
