Publisher's Description

"Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."  (John 15:13 KJVER)

Just as the high priest was commanded to sprinkle the blood of the sacrificial animal on the ground seven times on the Day of Atonement, Jesus’s blood drenched the earth seven times so that the seven wonders of the cross could take place in our lives. In The Seven Wonders of the Cross, Wilkin van de Kamp leads us on an intense journey to the seven moments in which the blood of Jesus soaked the earth during the last eighteen hours of His life. The seven moments that Jesus bled did not occur by accident. Each was a prophetic action, predicted hundreds of years before, inspired by God and completed through His will. The personal testimonies that are interwoven in this book bring the wonder of the cross to us more intimately, forming one miraculous gift from God the Father for all His children here on earth. Discover how Jesus has given His life perfectly for you so that the seven wonders of the cross can also take place in your life.

Author Bio

After working for sixteen years as an educator, Wilkin van de Kamp served for ten years as a pastor for the German-Dutch Euregio Christengemeente (Euroregion Christian congregation). Since 2010, he has served as pastor-director of Vrij Zijn (Being Free), written more than twenty books, and spoken at international conferences drawing thousands of Christians. Regarding The Seven Wonders of the Cross, Wilkin explains, "At the beginning of 2004, I started a year-long intensive study of the last eighteen hours of Jesus’s life. I studied what historians, doctors, theologians, and others wrote about the suffering and death of Jesus. I not only wanted to understand why Jesus had to go through such tremendous suffering, but to be close to Him in the most difficult hours of His life." Wilkin eventually wrote Het Wonder van het Kruis (The Wonder of the Cross) in forty days, spread out over half a year. The book has become a best seller in the Netherlands and has been translated into several languages. Heading a national movement, Wij Kiezen Voor Eenheid (We Choose Unity), in the Netherlands, Wilkin hosted the Nationale Ontmoetingsdag van Verootmoediging en Verzoening (National Day of Abasement and Reconciliation) in The Hague on October 6, 2012. National leaders and about three thousand Christians from many denominations confessed before God and to each other that they had spoken about and dealt negatively with one another in the past. This day was viewed as a breakthrough in the ecumenism of the Netherlands’ churches. Wilkin is also a cofounder and ambassador for the Christian, humanitarian, nongovernmental organization Pan de Vida (Bread of Life) in Peru. Children receive a free, healthy meal once a day at thirty-three locations in different slums. Pan de Vida has also established two childcare facilities and an orphanage. Wilkin has felt God’s call to help the church make the majesty of the cross its central theme, a symbol of great love and courage that had never been seen before and will never be seen again. He and his wife, Aukje, have four sons and four granddaughters.
