joanna5 Stars Out Of 5Book Review: The Message 100 Devotional Bible: The Story of God in SequenceNovember 10, 2015joannaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Message 100 Devotional Bible: The Story of God in Sequence is a devotional of the Bible in unbroken timeline sequence broken up into 100 devotions. It is written to go at your own pace even though it is laid out into 100 readings. Although it is called a devotional, it has The Message Bible in its entirety.
I love the feel of the cover of this book. I like the introductions. The introductions are short and sweet yet add to the reading. The "bibliography" section in the back is a great reference of the introductions, reading topics and where to find the biblical books. The overall layout is nice and organized. I like how each reading has the entire scripture instead of just references. I personally do not use The Message as my main Bible translation but I use it in comparison when studying.
If you like The Message Bible this devotional is for you. Reading this book in 100 days would be a good challenge.

Every so often a new bible format comes out that really brings the bible and the stories alive for the reader. The Message bible has been around for a few years in both old and new testament. Eugene Peterson translated from the original Greek and Hebrew Scriptures and put the Message bible together. The Message combines God's Word with conversational English that is readable and understandable.
I have read the Message and loved how easy it was to understand. I always felt like it was more in story form than the regular bibles I have read. Now, with the Message 100 bible, I can read it in a fresh new way.
The bible is designed into 100 reading that tell the unfolding story of God as he reveals himself to the people he loves. This bible is a collection of stories, speeches, prayers, and letters that will immerse you and you will see what God wants to teach you. You can do one reading at a time and go at your own pace. Each reading begins with a brief reflection from Eugene Peterson to orient you for what you are about to read. Enjoy the journey and see God in a whole different light.
This bible will be my Christmas gifts to family members this year because of how much this has impacted my life in reading this story of God in sequence.
Thanks to Tyndale Publishers for my free copy to read and review just for my honest opinion.

This Bible is designed to, while containing the entire Word of God, move its reader through the unfolding story of scripture. It is designed to be utilized by a student of the Word at any level, from beginner to the highly educated Biblical scholar.
Each of the 100 readings begins with a brief reflection from Eugene Peterson, which is meant to orient the reader towards what they need to know about the letter that they are about to read. Each letter has been given a title; for example, section or letter number 018 is entitled In This Present Moment. Each of the letters is placed with a specific section, under a specific title.
While this Bible does not contain the Norms found in the average Bible, it does present the Message in a very powerful, unique manner. Thus it is a recommended purchase for personal study or as a gift for someone wanting a greater understanding of Gods Word.
