I was so excited to receive this book. As a mother of 4 kids that are now all teenagers, I wish that I had found something that could capture the memories without taking a lot of time. And this is definitely a keeper and something that I will gift to many new mothers.

I love how you begin in January but the journal will work for the next 5 years. The idea is that you will just jot down a line of two. What I especially appreciated was the prompt at the top of the page. Let's face it, some days we're just done and our brains are not processing anything any longer. From what is most difficult in disciplining to a new tradition I'd like to implement, there are thoughts to consider and respond to, if I'd like.

Like any journal, it's an opportunity to reflect at the end of the day and in the midst of the busyness of life - a line or two will not take long (even when you're tired). As a mother of 4 kids, I've also accumulated my share of clutter, so a journal that I can use continuously over the course of the next 5 years is realistic and will not add more books than necessary at my bedside.

I would definitely recommend this journal.

Kids grow up quick. It seems like every day holds a collection of moments, big and small, that you wish you could hold on to as they fly past.

This is why I love A Memory a Day for Moms. Each page is divided into 5 sections, one for each year, where moms can write down a memory based on a prompt listed at the top of the page. With four lines allocated for each year, it is simple enough to squeeze in five minutes to write down your memory and the idea of being able to compare each year as you go is already bringing on the nostalgia for this Mama.

The book itself is a solid hardcover- perfect for the heavy usage ahead of it. The cover itself, however, is a beautiful blue embellished with shiny gold leaves. I appreciate how design and durability are equally evident. For those of us who are a little scatterbrained, there is an attached bookmark allowing for quick navigation for the day's writing.

The only downfalls with this book are for those who prefer a lot of control over their writing. As there are only 4 lines per date, there isn't a lot of space to go into details or to write details for multiple children (my tiny cursive finally found a place to excel). Also, the daily prompts may not always be relevant for a mom, breaking the day's theme for future entries.

Cons aside, this is a great option for Mama's looking to preserve glimpses into the ever fleeting years of childhood.

    4 stars out of 5.

This hardcover five-year journal encourages moms to record their child's journey as well as their own. Each day has features a Bible verse, a sentence prayer, and a writing prompt that often (but not always) corresponds with the verse. The pages are headed with the day's date (April 29), and each of the five years' sections with "20__", so the book could be started at any time, and the five years wouldn't need to be consecutive.

Around holidays, there are questions about plans, traditions, celebrations, etc. Otherwise, the prompts are varied, ranging from "What three characteristics do you want to develop as a Mom?" to "What is your child's favorite TV character?" to "What are you looking forward to this summer with your child?" The writing space is only four lines per year, so writing an essay isn't expected. That makes the idea of keeping at a five-year journaling project sound more manageable. One thing I noticed, the book consistently uses the singular "child." Moms with more than one child would have to decide how to answer the questions (write about each child? choose one in particular?) in very limited space.

In theory, I love the idea of this book. Realistically, if I'm going to remember to write, its going to need to be laying where I see it every day, and do I really want this book on my dresser for the next five years?

The book looks classy, and would make a great gift for the mom who follows through on good intentions. =)

Note: the product description says "elastic band closure" and the copy I received did not have the band.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher (Thomas Nelson) in exchange for my review.

A Memory A Day For Moms Inspirational Journal - Book Review

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book for my review. All opinions are my own.

This book is a 5 year journal just for moms. There are three lines each day for each year. Write in the year number, and a little blurb about that day. You can use the prompt given for that day or write whatever you like. The prompts vary from something like "What's your kids favorite food" to "What exhausts you the most?" For me it's a great way to record the funny and sweet little things that happen. Like my middle son is almost as tall as me and he's only 12! I'm sure I will write in my journal the day we all realize that he is my height or taller than me. I like this book, because as a mom my day is a bit chaotic. Trying to remember the sweet little details in the midst of all of it can be difficult. This book gives me the chance to write it down. I can see myself years from now reading this book and smiling over the memories. I do wish that there were more lines to write on each day. Three small lines isn't much. Maybe some note pages in between each day so you could tell a longer story or maybe at least once a week would be helpful.

I have a hardback copy, and the front cover is beautiful. It seems like a well designed book that can last five years. I like that it easily opens, its not super stiff. The typeface is really pretty and easy to read.

    About this book

I would definitely recommend this book to other moms.

Life is a collection of moments.

A Memory a Day for Moms is an inspiring journal that will hold five years of memories and reflections in one beautiful volume. I must confess that I am not one for journaling. While I would love to write down everything that happens in a week I simply don't. . .and I kick myself that I am not writing down the memories. This book is perfect for me as I can write down something special each day.

Every day of the year the book asks a question making for a wonderful way to preserve the memories. I love that I can use this journal for five years and how fun it will be to pass it down to my son when he is grown. There is a place for special notes and on each page you will find encouraging thoughts and Scripture verses.

Whether you enjoy journaling or maybe you're like me and you simply don't do it, this book is for you. It is truly a special way to remember those special moments. Mother's Day is next month and this would be a lovely gift for any mother. FAMILY: today's little moments become tomorrow's precious memories.
