Tell us a little about yourself. I worked with teenagers as a Cheerleading coach at a Christian school, helped with Fellowship of Christian Athletes in public High school and have prayed with young people at Pro-life booths at a local fair here in Ohio. I know the Lord has his mighty hand held out reaching for the Youth of the Nation to come to him in these time of darkness to be a light to the nations.
What was your motivation behind this project? I see the darkness of the enemy trying to lure our teenagers into his web of deception through media and the occult. I wanted to write a book that is an alternative to the Twilight series and other vampire books that lead the youth to a lie that evil is good. Satan and his minions are only after one thing... to steal, kill and destroy and the light of the gospel must shine through.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? That Jesus is the true Love in our life. The only one who can fill the God Shaped hole in all of us.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? When I had a friend tell me that her 14 year old grand-daughter loved the book and wanted a sequel and another teenager tell me she wanted to use it in her bible study group as a topic to discuss evil in our times.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I love Max Lucado. When my boys were little they attended an AWANA program in a local Baptist church and the teacher read the childrens book You are Special. I cried tears of joy, it was so touching, The pre-schoolers only looked at me like I was silly for crying. I used the book years later to read to a group of football players at a FCA meeting and I really think it touched them. Just to think that God made each of us 'special' . A Special work that is made in his image and He love us so much. My favorite secular writer is Dean Koontz. I have always loved how he takes the reader on a ride of suspense and ends each book in a positive tone. Good always prevails.!
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Keep your eyes on Jesus. He is the author and finisher of all and he loves YOU no matter what you have done, there is forgiveness at the cross.
