kk momma5 Stars Out Of 5Mechanical spelling!!!January 9, 2014kk mommaQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5EASY TO USE AND EFFECTIVE
For my son who sees the world from an all male mechanical mind, this has been the key to him finally grasping spelling. After several failed spelling curriculums, I started with megawords one with my 10 year old. I felt it was important to start at the beginning. He is doing 2 books a year. The syllabic approach of teaching parts not letter rules is exactly what his mechanical engineering brain needed. It is open and go ready with almost no teacher work required. My son does this completely independent aside from the occasional dictation.
CON:Not for ALL This approach would never have worked for my daughter. Her brain is not wired this way and it would have driven her nuts. She does vocabulary from classical roots for Spelling and vocab.
