Do you ever feel cheated by life? Do you believe God is unfair to you? Do you think you are left alone to suffer through terrible illness or a devastating loss that consumes you alive?? This book is for you!! You are not alone and your life story isn't the worst out there. Believe me when I say I was so angry at God and the unfairness of life, desperate for some retribution but then I to reading this book and I am ashamed of my blind selfishness. There is so much suffering in the world. So many lives cut short. So many dreams crushed in moment's notice. What is different about them is that they take it as a blessing. These people including the Author believe God in His abundant love for them decided it was better to "ruin" their health and dreams in order to achieve that intimate relationship that will get them on the path to Heaven. These painful experiences made them realize that God is ENOUGH- even when your world crushes around you, when you lose everything, when loved ones leave you, when pain just isn't treatable, when there is no hope for the future God says I am your hope and I am enough for you.
Dear reader. Where are you today? What are you going through? What are feeling? Cry out to God - He is there to listen and tell you that you are not alone. He chose suffering of his own Son to save you, he is there to save you today_ even from yourself.
Read this book. Let it touch your heart like it touched mine. And let it bring you peace and joy that comes only from knowing God is enough and he gives us what is the best in the end result.
Many thanks to the Publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
SallyTampa, FL5 Stars Out Of 5Nice GiftAugust 21, 2013SallyTampa, FLThis title grabbed my attention right away because this is my favorite hymn. Then the subtitle spoke to me as I live with illness, pain, and the challenges of aging. As I read, I happily discovered that the author had put some of my experiences down on paper. (She and I have many similar experiences, so I quickly connected!)
What a treasure this small book is. The author writes of her life experiences as well as some situations that others face. All are penned in an uplifting manner. Everyone faces these bumps--or steep mountains in life or knows someone who does. Shelly Beach helps the reader understand that God is ever present, even when it feels as if He is far away.
This collection of snippets and anecdotes are turned into meditations that point the reader toward the things of God. Each offering comes with a Bible verse and two thought-provoking questions along with a short prayer. It's perfect for use as a devotional, but could also be well used for a group study guide. It would make a nice gift for anyone "living with illness, pain, and the challenges of aging."
Thank you to Anne Bauman at Discovery House Publishers for my copy.

ÃÂ I was given the opportunity to read her latest book. ÃÂ I was given this book for free from Discovery House Publishing. ÃÂ I truly enjoyed the book. ÃÂ This book is a wonderful gift for that special someone who may be going through a dark season in their life. It is also just a wonderful book to find healing and a spiritual comforting of your soul. ÃÂ As I read each intimate story I found a wonderful peace knowing that our God who we serve is a God of love, compassion and understanding. ÃÂ I ÃÂ do not want to give the book away but there was a story about two friends who were traveling on a train, and they were on a tight budget. ÃÂ They shared their food. ÃÂ Well they happened to notice a lady who had a bag of bologna sandwiches. ÃÂ Well the lady ran out of sandwiches and had nothing to eat so when the lady got up to stretch her legs the two friends got what money they had left and gave her a little offering. ÃÂ Well when the lady came back she read the note and accepted the offering. ÃÂ As she turned around she told the two friends I know this was you. ÃÂ She turned around and gave them a hug and they ended up talking and sharing. ÃÂ That is just a small peak of the type of stories you will read. ÃÂ I really loved this book and I will truly give this book to those who need to be reminded that they are not alone. ÃÂ
Rhonda Nash-hallMadison Heights VAAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5guide to peaceMarch 6, 2013Rhonda Nash-hallMadison Heights VAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Shelly Beach has taken the words of a beautiful favorite hymn and written a collection of meditations or devotions for those who are dealing with chronic illness, aging, daily pain and more. She includes many examples from her own personal story which is highly moving as well as the stories of many others. She includes scripture readings, reflection questions, and prayers with the meditations. I have many chronic illnesses personally which forced me to quit teaching at the age of forty-nine and live on disability. I have had to give up much, but have gained time for more prayer, more Bible reading, more study, and a deeper relationship with Christ and those I love due to my disabilities. Shelly's writings helped me not to feel so alone and to realize that others have felt the same struggles and pains which I feel daily. Thank you so much.
