A classic reading curriculum that keeps students engaged
McGuffey's Eclectic Readers 7 Volume Set: Primer Through the Sixth Revised Edition provides a classic approach to learning reading, with short, engaging lessons. Using phonics and memorization techniques to develop reading ability helps cultivate a wide vocabulary, and the reading selections are selected to help students develop a broad variety of literary tastes. Cursive is introduced slowly, beginning with letters that are easily recognized by children familiar with printing, and vocabulary presented in context facilitate deeper internalization without rote memorization.
ElizabethAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful SetJune 4, 2014ElizabethAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I received my set and I am very, very impressed with them! It was exciting to open my package and see the boxed set!
First of all, they LOOK and FEEL wonderful. The embossed covers are just like what you would expect of an antique book, and they fit snugly in their slipcover. The engravings are beautiful, and really capture a child's interest in the story. I grew up with these in paperback, and reading them was one of the pleasures of my schooling. I am thrilled to have them in hardcover.
I hope these stay in print a long time, because I'd like to buy each of my children their own set for their own homes someday.
The price is good for the quality of the books, and shipping was faster than I expected.

Ron in AZAZAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5We had another set once.August 15, 2011Ron in AZAZAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We had purchased a set of McGuffey's Eclectic Readers years ago and they were "taken" by a young daughter who had started her young family which grew to five girls. We never saw those books again. When I saw them at your site, it was a given, we had to replace the Readers. The grandson who learned his ABC's and numbers and learned to read at second grade level before Kindergarden, remembered the books and pointed out favorite stories his Grandmother read to him.
