Tell us a little about yourself. We are the coauthors of Maturing in Christ, A Lifetime Journey. Combined we have over 60 years of therapy and counseling experiences and love to encourage people to continue to grow in their relationship with God, with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We have practiced and lived and walked out the skills and tools within the book and highly recommend others take steps to be on the journey to a more fulfilling relationship with God and others.
What was your motivation behind this project? As we near retirement age we realized that we wanted to explore a wider audience than our current influence. We want other believers to find hope in their growth process. There is hope and peace in a growing and full relationship with God. The journey will be one step forward and maybe two steps backwards, but it is amazing to be in an genuine and intimate relationship with God.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? No matter your history, the depth of your trauma or your own choices, God is there to forgive you with unconditional love and receive you into His loving and caring arms. Life is hard, sometimes really hard; we need all the help we can to life this life on earth and God is ready and willing to provide us with the guidance through the Holy Spirit. Are you willing to ask and seek?
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I have personally followed the steps and walked through the stages of development. Yes, it has been hard and no, I have not arrived, nor will I till I reach heaven; but I love the relationship I have on a moment to moment basis with the Holy Spirit as a guide, counselor and comforter that He is. I can't image life with the Lord in our crazy and confused world. Jesus cares unconditionally for me and for you. Where are you on your journey with the Lord?
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I would have to say the most influential person has been my husband of 51 years, Murl Silvey. Not only does he believe in the tools and skills in the book, Maturing in Christ, A Lifetime Journey, he has practiced them and shared them with anyone who would ask. He loves to watch people grow and mature in their Christian walk.
