Matthew Poole has become my go to commentary when seeking an experienced view on a passage. when i losty copy of the 3rd volume it wasnt long before i found it available by itself and purchased it again. i hope whoever may have my original copy of volume three will find it the blessing i have.
Poole is verse by verse and deals immediately with the interpretation of each portion of a passage. in the case of some verses which are perfectly straightforward he says nothing. More difficult passages are dealt with at greater length. This is highly recommended for those who are able or willing to become familiar with his antiquated english, which isnt usually very difficult.
This volume from Hendrickson is a great value and well done. it is a facsimile esition and has fairly small print, but i dont find that a difficulty, especially at this price point.
One of the most finest commentary you can find; and to consider its price you realize what a great offer the site has provided. However, the condition those books were delivered in was quite disappointing.
Volume 3 deals with the New Testament and the other two volumes provide much to understand it in terms of the old. Still, this matter existed in a different form when Poole wrote it. I would have liked to have more background about the source of the material at the beginning of the volume.
