"Know Who You Are: Live Like it Matters" by Tim Tebow is an interactive guide for homeschoolers. This book mostly pertains to writing curriculum as well as reading and self expression. Designed to be read one lesson a week for 36 weeks; each lesson contains a key verse, a reading material, an in your own words, and something to think about. The In Your Own Words section in the writing lesson is either journaling, poetry, lists, etc. There is usually a focus as well, such as being descriptive, using dialogue, or acrostic poetry.

Having never been homeschooled I am not sure how well this would go over in that environment, however, I am a certified teacher and I can see where the varied writing assignments would be stimulating. He also kept the writings in a middle schooler's interest level. I would recommend it to homeschooling parents. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from www.bloggingforbooks.com.

"Know Who You Are, Live Like It Matters" is the newest book from former NFL quarterback and current MLB outfielder Tim Tebow. It's a character-based weekly devotional aimed at homeschooled students and is designed to be part of a 36-week high-school curriculum.

This concept intrigued me first of all because I'm a fan of Tebow and his ministry, and also because I was homeschooled all the way through K-12. (Class of 2009!) I still have some siblings being homeschooled as well, and I thought when I was done with this I would pass it on to them.

In Know Who You Are, Tim writes each lesson around a particular Bible verse, and tells a short story from his life to bring that verse to life and show teenagers how to apply it to their own lives to improve their character and become more of who God wants them to be. Subjects involve getting along with siblings, being honest, being trustworthy, using your talents to glorify God, and being courageous. But through the entire book, there is one subtle theme: You can make a difference, even though you're a teenager.

I really admired how Tim is able to talk to teenagers in a way that speaks to them with authority and wisdom, without treating them like children. He can speak their language and still be an authority figure.

The lessons are short, only having a couple of pages of the lesson and then a couple of journaling prompts to encourage them to apply the lesson to their life. It's meant to be a weekly devotional, and I suggest doing that. The lessons are so short that it could be used as a daily devotional, but I don't recommend that at all because each lesson is meant to be pondered and digested. I suggest doing the lesson on Monday morning and then focusing on that lesson and the accompanying verses all week long. Make it a point to talk about the lesson with your kids; study it more than once if you feel the need. Find ways to use the information, not just read it.

In the introduction, Tim wrote a note to homeschooling parents, thanking them for investing in the lives of their kids. I thought that was a great touch.

Mr Tebow also included a number of inspirational quotes from himself and other great leaders. My favorite is this one: "Jesus didn't save you because you're awesome. He saved you because He's awesome."--Tim Tebow

I loved the book. I'm so glad I read it, and I'm going to be passing it along to my school-age siblings. I know there is a lot of trashy stuff in the world today, but I'm glad that a few great young people are taking a stand for their faith. Tim Tebow is an awesome role model for kids to look up to.

I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review. If I had disliked the book, I would have said so.

Know Who You Are came at the perfect time. Two of my kids need to read this book right now. I love how its simply written but asks questions that are meant for thought.

It is broken up into a 36 week study. While I think we could easily do two sections a week that may not be true for all families. Tebow takes examples from his life and uses them as examples to ask questions of his readers. I really liked how each week had a theme verse. Some were familiar and Tebow encourages you to rethink them, while others might not be as familiar.

There are sections to write your thoughts down and even journal space. More than anything for me it was good for my kids to see the after homeschool perspective. With my oldest starting her sophomore year at home sometimes its tough when she sees what other kids are doing and wonders what if. (Sometimes I wonder that too.) But it was also good to be reminded with this book, that this is the path God has chosen for our family. We should embrace it, love it, and know that it is for Gods glory.

Tim Tebow is a true inspiration in how he lives his life and I have read a few of his other books. The content of this book is very similar to other Tebow books but this one is written for home schooled kids to understand their true identity and worth. There are 36 short chapters, each with an interactive lesson at the end that allows kids to stop and reflect on each lesson and apply the learning to their lives.

I mistakenly got this book without noticing it was for homeschooled students. As soon as I saw that it was a Tim Tebow book, I knew it would be great and filled with good insights and values. My older sons really respect him and enjoy reading his books so I thought that I would pass it along to them after reading it.

Although a book written for home school students is not relevant to me, I am not marking down my rating because of this. There is a lot of similar content to other books but it should really appeal to kids who are homeschooled because it speaks more directly to them. Tim Tebow does so much to encourage good values and principles in the lives of our youth. He is a wonderful role model and I would recommend this book to someone who might have homeschooled kids.
