MathTacular 1 uses apples to help teach fractions, uses cars as rulers, and features a bear hunter who shares his snacks! Number recognition, counting, sorting, addition, subtraction, place value, money, time, estimation, and geometry are taught through using household items, fun situations, games, and a real-world emphasis that will keep kids engaged, entertained, and learning. This DVD is the first in MathTacular's 4-DVD Series. Carefully sequenced, it is suggested that the DVDs be used in order. Grades K-2. Approximately 4 hours (226 minutes). 88 segments with 17 topics covered.
Standard math manipulatives (Cuisenaire rods, counting bears, tangram boards, etc.) are used in some examples; a sold-separately Educational Kit with Manipulatives & adapted DVD is available, or parents may use manipulatives they already own.
MathTacular is a DVD-based adventure that will break through the barriers of math through creative, real-world examples, memorable examples, colorful visual learning, a fun tour guide "Professor Justin," and amusing problems that only math can solve! Show kids the practical value of Unbelievably Understandable Math™, as well as how easy it is to use in everyday situations. Giving children concrete concepts to build upon before using abstract mathematical symbols, MathTacular's hands-on emphasis will help children use and recall strategies learned from the videos. Designed as a supplement to whatever standard math curriculum you're using—whether in a homeschool, public, or private school setting—this kit will help your children in grades K-2 get the most out of math!

MommaKPAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyable way to learn math, just what little ones need.November 17, 2016MommaKPAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This DVD is enjoyed by young and old and had all my children very interested. And ASKING to watch it. Three to seven year olds don't need to be bored by books and so made to think math is boring. This is a great way to introduce some concepts and reinforce some concepts in just the way children like it before they work a little more seriously on arithmetic facts and such. No frills, but good fun designed to encourage them to find math fun in everyday life! This was well worth the purchase.
