It all began as a lark. Shay Callahans life was just fine, thank you, but when the seemingly misogynistic missionary, Timothy Flynn, places an advertisement in a Christian magazine for a wife, Shay decides to give it a whirl. Why not? After all, shes not currently seeing anyone, and this man truly needs to be taught a lesson. When Dr. Flynn picks Shay's application, she hops on a plane and flies to the Philippines. The strategy is to jet in, enjoy an exciting two-week vacation, and jet out again, all at his expense. Instead, her plan backfires. The handsome missionary man is not what he seems, and the foreign land has far more to offer than Shay could imagine. Embark on a tropical adventure with Shay that challenges everything she believes.

Shay Callahan decides to answer a marriage application to a man living in Manila. Her thinking is, if things don't work out as planned, at least she gets a nice two week vacation in the Philippines and return to Maryland. Missionary Dr. Timothy Flynn received many applications to his marriage application ad. Out of all the applications he picks Shay, having his own idea of what she will be like and hoping they will hit it off. The fun begins....
The descriptions of Manila are such that I could easily picture the areas described. Everything is not fun and joyous, however, as we see in the poor sections of the town. From the driving descriptions, I certainly would not want to be on their highways and roadsas a driver or passenger. A 4 year old little girl, Annalisaor Pinky as she is calledwas injured who quickly captured my heart. I enjoyed watching the sparks fly between Shay and Timothy, as they learn each are not as they had pictured. An unexpected surprise for Shay from the states shakes Timothy and Shay both, adding tense moments. I enjoyed learning about Clark and Loisnot telling who they are. This is a delightful and fun story full of humor with unexpected twists, serious illness, romance, love, faith and so much more.

I loved the modern take on the mail order bride. I wasn't for one moment distracted or bored. The Author kept me turning the pages. I loved the characters, especially Timothy. He has such a loving heart. A great read.
