Publisher's Description

Paul McMonagle was a student at Auburn in the spring of 2000 when about two weeks before finals, he suffered an excruciating headache while watching a movie with his girlfriend.

He stood up, threw up from the pressure, and passed out.

For the next two years, he only remembers snapshots of his life. Paramedics from the local hospital in Opelika, Alabama, transported him to East Alabama Medical Center after determining he had suffered a traumatic brain injury from a rupture of a genetic anomaly called an arteriovenous malformation or AVM.

In this book, he shares his inspiring story of what he's learned living with such a brain injury. Over the years, he's found at overcoming such a condition is impossible without God.

To follow Jesus means to be willing to lay down everything to pick up the cross. Within this narrative, you'll find threads of grace, mercy, and encouragement to overcome anything-all while moving closer to the Lord.

Tell us a little about yourself.  I'm in my 40s, married, and permanently brain-injured. Of course, I suppose we're all terminal in one way or another. So rather than dwell on the ~75 years you have on this rock, why not be concerned with what happens after. I've got life yet to live, offspring yet to raise, and a world to impact with my story so that others might gain insight, knowledge, and perhaps a little wisdom in their introduction to Someone greater.

What was your motivation behind this project?  My brain bled in 2000 twice, once in 2010, and a stroke in 2018. As such, I've lost quite a bit of my faculties. However, there was very littler encouragement in the books written regarding life after brain injury. Thus, I wrote something hopefully encouraging about life after brain injury! Curious? Why not take a read?

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  My hope, as always, is that my life will be a narrative to a greater life lived by Christ. If you have no clue what I'm referring to, I dare you to take a read!

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  This book is my opus. It's not that well written but after all, I'm just a washed up computer guy. How it will help you though is understanding how Jesus chooses to use the ordinary to accomplish a lot of His extraordinary work!

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  My favorite author, next to the authors of Scripture is Maowyn Succoth and Douglas Adams. If you ever get a chance to travel to the emerald Isle, I highly recommend! Also I suppose, don't panic and don't forget your towel!

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  If you read this book, you cannot leave unchanged. I warn you, its a great read but you cannot remain the same after reading. I dare you to read!
