Through grounded faith, humor, and disarming candor, Dorothy Greco equips readers to build flourishing, Christ-centered marriages that last a lifetime. A wedding binds together two imperfect people who cannot completely satisfy each other's expectations. How they respond to the inevitable conflicts and disappointments determines the kind of marriage they will have. Making Marriage Beautiful provides wisdom, encouragement, and hope, whether you've been married four weeks or forty years.
At the end of each chapter is a "Going Deeper" section with questions for reflection or small group discussion.

What makes a marriage beautiful? Honesty? Compatibility? Physical and emotional intimacy? All of these are important, but theres one component that determines the quality and longevity of a marriage more than anything else: a willingness to grow.
Because a wedding joins together two imperfect people, all couples experience disappointment, conflict, and pain. How husbands and wives respond to these challenges determines the kind of people they will become and the kind of marriage they will have.
Making Marriage Beautiful reveals how the pursuit of Christ results in profound transformation for both the individual and the marriage. Rather than offering clichés and formulas, Greco relies on candor, humor, and real life stories to bring encouragement and wisdom to all couples, regardless of whether they have been married four weeks or forty years.
Cozyread5 Stars Out Of 5RelatedableOctober 23, 2017CozyreadQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This marriage "self-help" book is well written and relatedable. I have read articles by Dorothy Greco in Christianity Today and couldn't wait to read her book! She uses her own marriage as examples as well as other couples who she had interviewed. She uses her wisdom and witty humor. Very enjoyable and helpful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is married or thinking about getting married, newly married or long time married.
Philip5 Stars Out Of 5Looking at marriage from another vantage point!March 24, 2017PhilipQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I grew up in the church and had heard more teaching on marriage than I can remember. I got married later in life and read several books just to make sure I was ready for it. This book brings a refreshing perspective. I have always loved Dorothy's photos and how she is able to show you people and things in a new light. She has done that with her words in this book. Sharing not just her life, but the lives of others she has seen God working in.
This book both challenged me, and made me uncomfortable, in a good way. It is so easy to become complacent and settle for things instead of pressing forward into what God has for you and your spouse. Who wants to go digging for what God might be saying to you in your disappointment and anger? You know you need to listen, but confession isn't always easy. Dorothy Greco engages these, and many more issues, in a way that sees scripture and theology in real life stories. Like all good stories, leading you back to The Story, you come away changed. I would highly recommend this book.
Annika5 Stars Out Of 5I'm not married, and I loved this bookMarch 1, 2017AnnikaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am a single woman and still found this book to be so relevant to my life, because more than being a book on marriage, it's a book on holiness and how I can continually pursue a closer relationship with God. The principles laid down in this book can be applied to all kinds of relationships, not just marital ones. It's a challenging, and therefore important, read.
Stacey4 Stars Out Of 5A Potentially Marriage-Changing ReadFebruary 16, 2017StaceyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4First, I would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to Dorothy Littell Greco and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Making Marriage Beautiful" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.
"Making Marriage Beautiful" by Dorothy Littell Greco is an enlightening and encouraging read. Greco writes a transparent book that will make you laugh and think and pray and recognize the things in ourselves that need to change. You will learn or be reminded of positive behaviors that enhance and strengthen relationships.
This book would make a great shower gift for the bride because it will help her plan and pray for and work toward the marriage she wants with deliberate action. It is also a great gift for the single gal who would like to marry someday and the already married woman who is ready to take on some home improvement projects. This book is not a cure for a bad marriage, but it will open your eyes to how your actions, words and decisions affect your marriage and your husband. A potentially life-changing read.
Kristieupstate NYAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5a must-read for all couplesFebruary 11, 2017Kristieupstate NYAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is an excellent book that I highly recommend for couples to read, whether they are engaged and planning to be married or they have been married for a few years, or married for many years. Dorothy begins with this book with stating that she is not a marriage expert and her marriage is not perfect; however she and her husband are committed to making their marriage work and they have counseled many couples throughout the year. This is just the beginning of her honesty and her heart that is shared throughout this entire book. Marriage is a lot of work, but it can be so wonderful and Dorothy addresses so many things in this book that may cause disappointments and tension between husband and wife. I love how the author shares her own personal stories and also little tidbits from others and wisdom from other authors, books and things that she has learned throughout the years. The Nonnegotiables and Choosing Joy chapters are my favorite, even though I enjoyed the entire book and found it to be packed with so much and such an overall encouraging book to read.
