Product Description

She had been looking for somewhere to stay, but instead Marion Miller finds herself on the wrong side of the reception desk at the Peace and Pigs campground and, despite her horrible shyness, promptly lands herself a job.

Marion came to Nottinghamshire--home of Sherwood Forest--to discover her father's mysterious past, but all she has to go on is a picture of her father dressed up, it would seem, as Robin Hood.

Life on a busy campground challenges Marion's formerly controlled life--the pigs roam free, the resident chickens seem determined to thwart her, and an unfortunate incident with a runaway bike throws her into the arms of the beautiful, but deeply unimpressed, Reuben.

Yet, Marion's would-be boyfriend Jake, and Reuben's stunning fianc{?e Erica, conspire to leave little room for Marion to daydream about the twinkling eyes of her rescuer . . . Will Marion ever find peace, and perhaps even love, among the pigs?

Includes a large cast of memorable, colorful characters, Making Marion is an outstanding debut romantic comedy that touches on issues of identity and family with a natural ease.

Making Marion isnt a novel for the ultra-conservative Christian reader. It has a distinctly British flavour in terms of language, content, and plot. Marion has a lot of issues in her past, and these are addressed through humour (like Bridget Jones) rather than angst (as used by, say, Karen Kingsbury). I found the sometimes irreverent humour made the hard parts easier to read, but some readers might find that same humour to be disrespectful or offensive.

The plot was good, and the characters, especially Marion and Scarlett were excellent, and the writing was probably the best Ive come across from a British author, with a subtle theme of love and forgiveness. The present story was regularly interspersed with flashbacks to Marions past, which showed us something of the events which had shaped her, and how much she had to forgive.

Recommended for those looking for the depth of Sally Bradley and Varina Denman with the humour of Bridget Jones.

Making Marion is a quirky , entertaining book with deep messages throughout. Marion is trying to find her dad based on a picture she has from the past. She end up at a campsite in Sherwood Forest. She lives and works among the various personalities present at the campsite.

I received a copy of the book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

I first requested this book because of the title. Making Marion: Wheres Robin Hood when you need him. Any book that has to do with jolly, old England pulls me in. This book did not disappoint.

Marion Miller comes to the Peace and Pigs caravan park to find directions to the Sherwood Forest. Marion is barely able to put enough words together to form a sentence and because of this a funny string of events follows beginning with her being offered a job at the park by the loving, quirky owner. Along the way, the reader is told the story of Marions life and is given insight into what has made her the young lady she is today. The reader is treated to heart-wrenching and heart-warming stories throughout the book.

This is the first book, but definitely not the last, that I have read by the author. Her style is easy enough to draw the reader in and fascinating enough to keep the reader reading.

I was given this book by the author, publisher and bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review.

Beth Moran in her new book, Making Marion published by Lion Fiction introduces us to Marion Miller.

From the back cover: Wheres Robin Hood When You Need Him?

Marion Miller comes to Sherwood Forest to discover her fathers mysterious past. She had been looking for somewhere to stay, but instead Marion Miller finds herself on the wrong side of the reception desk at the Peace and Pigs campground and, despite her horrible shyness, promptly lands herself a job working for the big-hearted and irrepressible Scarlet..

Life on a busy campground challenges Marions formerly controlled lifethe pigs roam free, the resident chickens seem determined to thwart her, and an unfortunate incident with a runaway bike throws her into the arms of the beautiful, but deeply unimpressed, Reuben.

Can Marion discover her fathers secret> and will she find peace, and perhaps even love, among the pigs?

This is really a nice romance. Marion is a shy person that circumstances keeps putting in the forefront which gives us some funny moments. Ms. Moran has given us a story about coming out of your shell, of becoming the person that God designed you to be, of being at peace with yourself. It is also a really lovely romance. And, of course, if you are any kind of fan of Robin Hood then you are just going to enjoy this story.
