I've witnessed multiple struggling marriages and divorces during my 30 years of teaching young children and the affect is painful for all involved. Laura reveals not only why there may be struggles but how couples can see the rainbow after the storm. She is realistic and doesn't shy away from the big problems encouraging some to get help beyond the pages of her book. Making Love Last is an amazingly well written life changing book. Its an easy read...even for those who are shy of non-fiction...lots of metaphors, examples, and simple techniques. I am recommending this book to my friends and family as a trusted resource for marriage.

Lucinda Secrest McDowell5 Stars Out Of 5Every Young Couple Should Embrace this Book!August 25, 2017Lucinda Secrest McDowellQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The first time my brand new husband and I had an argument I thought the marriage was over. My parents (who were married 62 years) had chosen to protect me from their own conflicts, so I had no model for resolving issues as a couple. Back then I so wish I had been able to glean wisdom and encouragement from Laura Taggart's fabulous handbook on marriage "Making Love Last." I discovered that all couples have problems but the goal should be to talk and "engage in conflict in ways that don't damage the relationship." This is real stuff here. Taggart pulls no punches with naming every single challenge and joy couples are likely to experience. But, just as in the whole conflict section, she clearly educates us in the backstory of understanding as well as practical choices and exercises for addressing whatever issue we have. We are encouraged to both "let go" and "lean in" with our spouse in order to best build a life together and keep our covenant. Are you young and married? Embrace this book and one day you will be old and still married! I am so very grateful for therapists like Taggart who can enter in (through both counseling and now in writing) to our pain or confusion and clearly, mercifully help to show us the way. If you love a young couple, give them "Making Love Last!"

It would have been very helpful for us to realize that we were not the only ones to struggle and have conflicts in our marriage, feeling unloved and unloving. Laura's practical and wise coaching would have helped us understand the seasons of marriage and these struggles were common to many. Looking back we agree that it takes time, effort and commitment to communicate well and learn how to deal with conflict and come to compromise.
Laura describes these seasons and conflicts and helps couples understand why they happen and how to hang in there with each other.
Great job Laura, sharing your insights of working with young couples for years and your compassion to give them hope for a bright future.
