Tell us a little about yourself. I'm an assistant professor of Journalism at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and this is my first full-length documentary.
What was your motivation behind this project? It was clear from the beginning that God was pushing me to do this project. The story is too long to share here, but the doors He opened made it totally obvious that He wanted this to be my mission for a few years.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that watching this documentary will remind Christians and non-Christians alike of how courageous Christians can be. These Christians stood up to the Nazis and risked their lives to save total strangers. I want future generations to know about their incredible story.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I am a big fan of Bill Moyers and other documentary filmmakers who use film to make the world a better place, rather than just entertain us to death with drivel.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: The documentary won the Audience Award at the Northern Lights Documentary Film Festival in Newburyport, MA and has been selected for a handful of other festivals. John Douglas of The Grand Rapids Press called it, "...wonderful...a quality production whose stories will keep you on the edge of your seat." I'm available to screen the documentary for churches and other groups if interested.
