Cara5 Stars Out Of 5Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends DVDAugust 28, 2017CaraQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I was hoping for short cut, since my children were not really interested in reading the book. I think I will just make the book required reading this school year. The DVD was interesting. It gave a glimpse of what is in the book, and you meet the people who wrote the book. So, maybe they will be more willing to read it now. I saw my children laugh as they watched it. They seemed interested. It is really about their heart though, so we cannot give up praying for them as we teach and train. I have not found anything else that addresses this topic of sibling relationships from the children's perspective. It is a real encouragement to see children who want to be Christ-like, and want to help their peers do likewise. They give very practical advice.

The video was filmed at a conference where the Mally siblings spoke on the same conflict management techniques covered in their books, so the subject matter is good, but the format is not exactly what I had in mind from the info on the back cover of the DVD. This DVD is great for adolescents, teens and parents, but I would suggest skipping it if your intending it for kids who can't read the book for themselves.

But as time passed, they returned to many of their bad habits toward one another. So I thought this DVD would be a great refresher, but you just can't cover much in a 50 minute video. So, if deciding between the DVD or the book, as usual, the book much better than the movie.

Two of my children have had a lot of resentment toward each other for several years. Sitting down together to watch this DVD was a real blessing to us as it offered very practical advice presented in an engaging way. My husband kept pausing the DVD to talk about the issues discussed on it and wants our kids to watch it over and over again. The very best thing is the fact that it was made by kids themselves. They did a great job and I believe it carried a lot more weight with our children than it would have if it was an adult lecturing them. I would highly recommend it to families that have older children. I'm very hopeful that the lessons taught will make a lasting impression in our family.
