This is a wonderful collection of historical novellas surrounding tales of lumberjacks and finding love while working a dangerous job during the 1800's. Each author's tale is well written with characters that drew me in. Travel back in time from Maine in 1851, to 1865 in Michigan, on to Wisconsin in 1881 and finally end in Idaho 1890 at a lumberjack camp.

Each tale were descriptive of the lumberjacks daily lives and what the heroine was struggling or trying to overcome. There are secrets, a touch of mystery, history, faith and romance that made each novella a charming story. I had read a couple of the authors before knowing I would enjoy their contribution, but a bonus was connecting with new authors to me. I highly recommend this latest collection from Barbour Publishing to fans of historical Christian fiction mixed with American history, romance and faith.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to write a positive review. I have expressed my own opinion for this well organized and written collection.

This collection of short stories is well written and includes many different aspects of the logging industry. Each of the stories teaches the reader a little more of the sacrifices that were made in this extremely dangerous line of work. Since the stories are romances, the sacrifices were doubled. I would definitely recommend this book.

The first story written by Candice Sue Patterson, was very sweet and enjoyable. I had not read any of this author's books before, but I really enjoyed her writing and am going to watch for her future books. It was an engaging and somewhat intriguing read. Yes, there was a little crime going on that made for some good reading!

The second story was by author Pegg Thomas. Eliza Beth is a cook for a logging crew and there is an interesting "conflict" between what appears as suitors wanting her attentions. However, she wants to get away from the camp and pursue her teaching abilities. It's a very good story and although these stories are shorter than a full length book, the characters have been well developed and are very believable.

The third story was written by Naomi Musch. I enjoy how these stories take you to different logging camps in different states, Maine, Michigan, Wisconsin and Idaho. And Naomi's book takes you to Wisconsin. This is about a marriage of convenience and need and I love how it turns out and it was definitely a "feel good" story.

The final story in the book was written by Jennifer Lamont Leo. It was the most historically recent of the stories and I could tell that quickly as I was reading. It took place in 1890 Idaho. A little mystery going on here as to the financial situation of the timberland business. This and the other stories makes for entertaining reading which I feel were very interest retaining and well worth your time! It's very good and I am so happy that I read these great historicals!

I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and an author and was under no obligation to post a review. All thoughts are my own.

We are offered four different stories, all revolving around lumber, and all giving us some sweet romance!

We travel from coast to coast with this novellas, and you quickly become involved in the lives of these people.

From dips in the cold Atlantic off the coast of Maine, then to icy, snowy Michigan, and getting meals to the loggers, from there we journey to lumber yards in Wisconsin, with a stop at farm country. Lastly we are in Idaho, and at a logging camp, one that is loosing money, and yet full of rich timber!

You will not be able to put these down once you turn your first page! This is a treat!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour, and was not required to give a positive review.
