Love it.Bock does a nice job of presenting the position of different people and then provides a nice conclusion when possible.

Darrell Bock has indeed written the definitive commentary on Luke's Gospel. If a 1,000 page commentary can be described as user-friendly, this one certainly can due to the BECNT's great format. This volume is learned, engagingly written, bibliographically exhaustive, exegetically sane, and pastorally sensitive(!). Bock overcomes the weaknesses of Marshall's and Nolland's great commentaries (again due in part to the design of the pages), and provides scholarly refutation to the methodological madness of the Jesus Seminar. I look forward to his Acts commentary in the same series. Well done!

Bock has written a very good commentary on Luke; but it is not the definite commentary, for he is competing with two very good modern day commentaries, by Marshall (NIGNT) and Nolan (WBC). The exegesis is sound, so even the layperson will have no difficulty. He discusses the various textual issues in details, and gives justice to both sides of the coin. Scholars and students will benefit from this detailed commentary. I highly recommend this commentary to all, even if you own Geldenhuys, Green, Marshall, Nolan and Plummer.
