Jamie M.5 Stars Out Of 5love this movieJanuary 15, 2018Jamie M.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Do not compare with the book by Janette Oke' of the same name. It will just frustrate you. The book and movie adaptation are almost nothing alike as a matter of fact, none of the books are literal translations to movie adaptations. Nothing like any of the books since the books are much heavier on hardship and struggling to survive in an oppressive landscape themes unlike the movie adaptations which are more uplifting and upbeat. Also I remember the books reading like serials with no clear ending to the books and could not subsequently be read as stand alone books. In contrast the movie adaptations can be watched as standalone movies as they have clear storyline forward and conclusions.
"Loves Enduring Promise" (#2) is the second movie in the 11 film "Love Comes Softly" film franchise directed by Michael Landon Jr. This is my favorite film in the franchise series and the only film with January Jones portraying Missie as she chose to not reprise her role in the subsequent film sequels. Although I like Erin Catrell (?), to me, Missie will always be best portrayed with January Jones. I like the Missie storyline best when it focused on her being a school teacher similar to the same author Janette Oke's series "When Calls The Heart" tv series storyline. Missie's predominately teacher storyline can be found best in "Loves Enduring Promise" (#2) and "Loves Unending Legacy" (#5). Both are really good. "Loves Long Journey" (#3) had a minor portrayal of Missie as a Indian reservation schoolteacher but it is not a dominant arch to the storyline like in "Loves Enduring Promise" (#2) and "Loves Unending Legacy" (#5) storylines. And "Love's Abiding Joy" (#4) did not have Missie as a schoolteacher whatsoever, subsequently "Loves Abiding Joy" (#4) was the most heartbreaking in the "Love Comes Softly" film franchise so you will need a box of tissues (I believe I only watched this movie once because it was so heartbreaking).
Also it is important to note that all the lead main arch characters in the "Love Comes Softly" film franchise lose there first spouse to death and find love again with a second spouse. First Clark, than Marty, than Missie, than Belinda - all widowed who find love a second time around. On a side note - I know times were harsh but I wouldn't want to be there first spouse since path trajectory lead to death. Melodramatic maybe, but I was like "Come On, really". Too realistic arch to storyline.
Most confusing for me was how does the characters measure in "Love Comes Softly" film franchise -
#1 - Love Comes Softly - Marty, Clark, and Young Missie (Young Willie as "bully" boy with a "crush" on Young Missie)
#2 - Loves Enduring Promise - Marty, Clark, Adult Missie, and Adult Willie
#3 - Loves Long Journey - Missie and Willie
#4 - Loves Abiding Joy - Clark, Missie, and Willie (Marty sick and unable to travel with Clark to visit Missie)
#5 - Loves Unending Legacy - Clark, Marty, Missie (after Willie death)
#6 - Loves Unfolding Dream - Clark, Marty, Missie, Belinda, and Drew
#7 - Love Takes Wing - Belinda (after Drew death)
#8 - Love Finds a Home - Belinda (after Drew death)
#9 - Love Begins - Clark and First Wife, Ellen (before Second Wife, Marty)
#10 - Loves Everlasting Courage - Clark and First Wife, Ellen (before Second Wife, Marty)
#11 - Loves Christmas Journey - not any of original characters, spin-off
Ultimately if you like Janette Oke's "When Calls The Heart" tv series on the Hallmark Channel you will like "Loves Enduring Promise" (#2) and "Loves Unending Legacy" (#5), both Hallmark Channel allumini too.

There are times when I have to increase the volume in order to hear what the actors are saying.
