Almost forty years later John’s teenage grandson asked to interview him so he could write a family history paper. Thirty years into their marriage, Elizabeth died of cancer, making John apprehensive about reliving the details of that chapter in his life especially since he later remarried. He did eventually agree to share the story. The entire family enjoyed learning about their heritage and felt blessed by Cole’s report.

Robert Donley5 Stars Out Of 5Love Karen Kingsbury booksSeptember 16, 2017Robert DonleyQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I am in the process of reading "Love Story", "The Baxter Family Series #1". I have read all of the "Baxter" books & have enjoyed all of them. I like the Christian theme of her books & I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
When I am through reading the books, I pass them along for someone else to read or give them to the church library. I have also recommended her books to others.

This one, Love Story, held my interest but I found the emoting to be a little over the top and somewhat unrealistic. I find it hard to believe that men are so in touch with emotional issues. I don'r know many people who respond to each other in the ways the book portrayed - with that kind of intensity. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the story and wanted to see how it would end. The hardback was a little pricey & I'd hoped for paperback, which I assume will come later.

I enjoy the way Karen Kingsbury has used background information from several of her previous series as a springboard into the telling of the love story of John and Elizabeth Baxter in more detail. I think I was anticipating more of a historical treatment of their story as they lived it. However, the approach is much more refreshing as John Baxter shares it with his grandson Cole as he relives it in his mind. Then Cole suddenly springs the question on his mother, Ashley, about hers and his dad's love story. Although not as detailed as John and Elizabeth's story, there are parts of several other love stories that increase the interest level. For the reader who takes time to read carefully and pay attention, valuable lessons are shared through the pages of the story. I think anyone can benefit from reading this book.
