Seventh grader Lexi writes letters to God about her struggles in school. Discussion questions and space for the reader to journal are included in the book. I chose this book for my sixth grade daughter, who loved it and thought it was funny. I enjoyed it as well, and was happy to find a book that was specifically about middle school.

What young girl doesn't have problems with boys, girl-drama, sibling pressures, desires, dreams or hesitations about the future?

This book by Sherry Kyle, shares Lexi's letters to God about The Worst Day EVER! And all the drama of growing up from boys, to big sisters or little brothers; to the simple pleasures of cats, chocolate, donuts and limos. All this, Lexi lays out her wants and dreams to God. For each letter there is a response from God in a simple scripture. God tenderly comes to each need, desire or pain. The words comfort, direct and brings peace to the situation. Last, it invites readers to also journal their own frustrations or joys. What an AMAZING book to give girls!

BTW: I loved it too! From the beginning truth of the Worst Day Ever!'-- to an amazing,I can't believe it turned out this way, God, day!" It is good to know, because life really is like that.

    Love, Lexi

    By Sherry Kyle

Published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.

The book Love, Lexi by Sherry Kyle is a stand-alone devotional directed towards pre-teens and tweens. The book is written stylistically as the personal journal of Alexis (Lexi) Dawn Cooper during her seventh grade year. It shows her ups and downs, her awkward moments, her attempts to be popular and stylish, and her crush on a boy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but there were some things that I felt like they didnt match with reality. For one, it was a story of a boring, awkward girl who tries to become glam and a part of the cool kids club. It also illustrates her crush on a boy that she has known since the first grade and seems to really like as she pursues a relationship with him. I thought that this book was a little typical: awkward girl wants to become cool and get the cute boy. I did enjoy her hilarious quirks and fun moments, however, and I would definitely recommend this book to girls ages 10-12.

Thank you so much to the Tyndale Blog Network for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own and were not required to be positive. 4.5 Stars

Sherry Kyle has given tween girls a real treat. Lexi is a realistic and completely relatable girl. Tween girls will feel like theyve made a new best friend with flaws, foibles, and a great sense of humor. And moms will appreciate Lexis kind heart and her willingness to learn. If you have a tween girl in your life, shell love Lexi too!

This fiction story is all about Lexi and some difficult situations the 7th grader is in. The book is written as Lexi's letters to God about each day. Then God "answers" with a Bible verse and there is room for the reader to journal thoughts and feelings and similar situations. I figured my 10 yr old would enjoy the book, and I was right! The only negative I saw in this book was the amount of time spent on Lexi's crush on a boy that is her friend. We don't encourage crushes and focusing on boys at this age but I allowed DD to read the book because I think the overall message was worthwhile. Daughter really enjoyed the book but agreed it was a little too much about the crush. She really likes the room for journaling and that the Bible verses are written out throughout the book. She's hoping to see more books like this from Sherry Kyle.
