Terri Gillespie5 Stars Out Of 5What a Great Ride!April 25, 2024Terri GillespieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Love in Tandem.Becca Kinzer's second novel, LOVE IN TANDEM is a laugh-out-loud romp that rides into the heart with brilliance and memorable characters.
THE STORY: Charlotte Carter is only now moving forward after a failed engagement and her mother's battle with cancer, when she learns her teaching position and the whole music department are in jeopardy. How will she go about saving the music department and her job?
Zach Bryant is back in town just long enough to see his brother--Charlotte's former fianc--get married to Zach's former girlfriend. He can't wait to leave town and find his next adventure.
Through a series of hilarious misdirects and misunderstandings, Charlotte and Zach end up riding a tandem bicycle 500 miles in an attempt to raise funds for the music program.
Can Charlotte set aside her aversion to physical activities and her differences with Zach long enough to cross the finish line and win the giant cash prize? Tandem biking is only the start of their biggest adventure yet.
Becca Kinzer has done it again, giving us quirky, loveable, and memorable characters, and writing humor without compromising a realistic plot. Laugh-out-loud with a few tears? The best! Keep 'em coming, Becca!
Highly recommended for readers of contemporary romance, humor, contemporary women's Christian romance, clean romance.
I received an ARC from the publisher for my honest review. -
shereadswherevershegoesAtlanta, GAAge: Under 18Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Hilarious!April 22, 2024shereadswherevershegoesAtlanta, GAAge: Under 18Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Love in Tandem. This is my first read by Becca Kinzer, and I absolutely loved it! (And now that I realize she wrote Dear Henry, Love Edith, which has been recommended nearly as frequently in a certain FB group as The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip, which I also recently/finally just read, I must pursue and read that book pronto!)
I honestly thought the "fake dating" trope wasn't for me, after a recent subpar experience with it--made even more surprising as that author is typically an auto-buy for me--so I was a little hesitant here, but it was extremely well done. And the fact that the book is laugh-out-loud funny made it even better! The icing on the cake: the faith element woven throughout. (And if you quirk an eyebrow at a couple moments, like I did, just keep reading. ;) It's worth it!)
Can't wait to see more from Kinzer, and super glad I have Henry and Edith to look forward to.
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own. -
ValerieAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Romcom filled with Fun, Farce, and Faith - for Fans of Courtney WalshApril 17, 2024ValerieAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Love in Tandem.Inspired by a tandem bike ride the author took with her husband, Love in Tandem by Becca Kinzer is a farcical and funny romcom. I really enjoyed the audiobook narrated by C.J. Bloom who infused personality into this colorful cast of characters and conveyed the humor flawlessly.
Charlotte and Zach, who already have history, are forced together on a 10-day tandem bike ride on the Natchez Trace in the heat of summer. The events before and during their journey are zany yet just within the realm of possibility. The only part I felt was unrealistic was the happily-ever-after ending. But this story isn't all laughs and physical comedy - there's also deeper meaning and elements of faith.
I haven't yet read Ms. Kinzer's debut Dear Henry, Love Edith but if it's anything like Love in Tandem, it will be my go-to audiobook the next time I need humor and heart in my reading life.
Thank you to RB Media for providing access to the audiobook; all opinions are my own.

Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Fun and Adventurous Romance!April 17, 2024Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Love in Tandem.I listened to the audio book version and really enjoyed the narration! Love in Tandem was such a fun story to listen to. There were some serious and sad moments, but this novel was primarily focused on a situation that forced these two opposites into close proximity with each other. I appreciated that even early on, Charlotte and Zach battled a bit of an attraction to each other, however, they were mostly frustrated with what they had been pushed into together. I did like that although this ride and camping were very out of Charlotte's comfort zone, she actually did commit to trying to make it work.
This story had plenty of laugh out loud and zany moments, but also moments of connection for Charlotte and Zach as they grew to know each other. Their time together also showed some things that they needed to work on both emotionally and in their faith. The faith thread was light, but it was there, making this a story that anyone could probably enjoy. I liked the cute secondary romance that developed, too. This was the first book that I have read by this author and it was lots of fun.
