I even learned a new term: "jump the fence" which means an Amish person leaves their faith and becomes an Englisher. The phrase was used multiple times in the book. I was glad to see the blossoming friendship between Emma and Kelly, and the positive effects in both of their lives due to their friendship. This book really helped me see that people are alike in their struggles, no matter whether they are a mainstream American or a cloistered Amish person.
Cleo Tomlin5 Stars Out Of 5August 25, 2010Cleo TomlinAgain, a great book. Asa with all the Amish novels, they hold you with such interest that is is hard to put them down to do your house work. I hurry to do things that need to be done so I can get back to reading. They are so good to read at night when you can't sleep. Other than the Bible, I don't know of any books that are as good as the Amish novels. Would recommend anyone to buy one of these novels but be ready to be hooked on them. I love them.
Karla Mabry4 Stars Out Of 5January 21, 2010Karla MabryA warm story of the strength of God's grace in the lives of a young Amish girl who thinks she wants more for the future than her quiet life gives. With a couple of exceptions necessary for the plot, the characters were realistic and true. The story gives a glimpse into the longing most young girls have for romance and adventure. Emma learns along the way that when mistakes are made they can be overcome by making right choices and accepting love and encouragement from family and friends.
