Series: Year of Weddings
Holly ended things to give him a better life, but she was the future hed always dreamed of.
Eight years have passed since Holly last saw her high school sweetheart, Josh. Now the wedding of Joshs best friend has brought him back to Martinsburg, Texas. His duties as best man and Holly's as the church's volunteer wedding coordinator link them together. As they work behind the scenes to plan a beautiful November wedding for their friends, they're forced to confront painful reminders of what might have been.
Holly broke up with Josh all those years ago in an attempt to ensure his future success. However, she never told him the true reason behind her actions and now must decide whether to keep her secret hidden. She's terrified of letting herself fall for him because she barely managed to piece her life back together after losing him the last time.
Not a day's gone by since Josh parted from Holly that he hasn't thought about her. The pain of the past eight years has been too much to bear and he doesn't want to make himself vulnerable to her again. But the more time he spends with her, the harder it is to deny the love he still has for her.
Will Josh and Holly risk their hearts on the hope that God's timing really can be best?

Crystal5 Stars Out Of 5Sweet "Reunion" Love StoryMay 9, 2017CrystalQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Holly and Josh shared an epic love as high school sweethearts. Not some juvenile infatuation that would fade, but a deep, soul-level love that would last through the rest of their lives. Or so it should have. When Josh successfully began college at MIT, Holly broke off the relationship at his mother's concern that with her in his life, Josh would never reach his full potential. Although Josh did go on to fulfill his mother's dreams for him by becoming a successful businessman, inventor, and billionaire, her misguided motherly love caused great heartache for both Josh and Holly. Now, years later Josh returns to his hometown for his best friend's wedding and unexpectedly reconnects with Holly, the church's wedding coordinator. Both realize their feelings are as strong as ever, but neither one knows if they can bridge the gap of awkwardness surrounding their broken past. When Holly finally after all this time shares the real reason behind the breakup was Josh's mom's concerns, barriers are removed and both of them have to decide if they can rebuild the once soul-satisfying love they shared as youth.
Love in the Details was such a heartwarming "reunion" story! I found it unique that the prologue and epilogue were letters that Holly and Josh had written to each other. Also enjoyed Josh's clever tactics at trying to spend more time with Holly while "planning" the rehearsal dinner! Sweet story with a happy ending for all!

An Old Fashioned GirlMinnesotaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5As perfect and poignant as a novella can beNovember 17, 2015An Old Fashioned GirlMinnesotaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I love Becky wade's style of humor. Even though it's a moving story and swoon-worthy romance, Holly's perspective on life has such a delightful touch of humor. I also enjoyed the subtle encouragement to writers (Holly being a novelist) - "Well, it didn't look like genius would be forthcoming today. She'd settle for mediocre hogwash. Then, at least, she'd have something to work with. Hard to edit and revise blank pages." (46) - So true.
If you want a sample of Wade's writing, this is absolutely true to her novels, but on a smaller scale - funny, poignant, romantic, with an emotional punch and uplifting spiritual thread. And hard to remain dry-eyed all the way through. And if you want a high quality novella, then absolutely read this one. It's rare that I think a novella would not be improved by lengthening it, but this is one of the few - any longer, and it might actually lose impact. It's perfect as it is. 5 stars!

Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Loved this Sweet Story!November 13, 2015Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This was such a great story! I loved the small town setting and I connected with these characters very easily. There is humor and fun in the novella, but also a lot of soul searching on each side.
Josh still doesn't understand how things could have fallen apart so many years ago. He's had a bruised heart for many years and struggles with anger. I really felt for him and thought that he was a very interesting character.
I liked Holly so much! It broke her heart to end the relationship with Josh and although she feels that it was for a good reason, she has carried the pain around with her for all of these years.
This novella reminds me (just a little bit) of Jane Austen's Persuasion. In that novel, Anne Elliot ends the relationship with Captain Wentworth because she is persuaded that he is not worthy of her station, yet she never stops loving him. In Love in the Details, Holly is persuaded by Josh's mother to end the engagement, for his own good. There are other wonderful little similarities, yet Love in the Details is definitely its own creation and a novella that I highly recommend. I just like seeing the hint of Persuasion in the story line, as that is one of my all time favorite novels.
I have enjoyed many of the Year of Weddings novellas. Love in the Details is definitely one of my favorites.

Jolene5 Stars Out Of 5Exceeded my expectations!November 10, 2015JoleneQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Eight years ago, Holly broke up with Josh, the love of her life, to free him to pursue his passions and goals. Josh's status as best man in his friend's wedding has brought him back to Martinsburg, Texas, and face-to-face with Holly. Josh and Holly's affections rekindle quickly, but both have their reasons for holding the other at a distance. Josh is only in town for the month before the wedding. Is one month enough time for Josh and Holly to fall in love again? Is there a way for their relationship to survive once Josh returns to work? Read more in Love In the Details by Becky Wade.
Love In the Details by Becky Wade is the November installment in the Year of Weddings Novellas (second series). I usually avoid novellas, but I have always enjoyed Becky Wade's novels and decided to give this a try. The novella is classic Becky Wade one super rich and attractive character falls in love with one not so rich, but attractive and talented character. The length is obviously shorter than her normal stories, but the characters had issues to work out which provided sufficient depth to the natural progression of their relationship and kept the story from being easily forgotten as many novellas are to me. I enjoyed Love In the Details and I recommend it to readers looking for a sweet story of second-chance romance.

The NerdHerd Reads3 Stars Out Of 5great storyNovember 4, 2015The NerdHerd ReadsQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I loved this one. I thought it was such an interesting premise, different than anything else in this "series". I thought it was such a good story.
Holly and Josh were high school sweethearts, but Holly broke it off when Josh went to MIT to secure his future. Now, Josh is back in town for a friend's wedding, but Holly never stopped loving him. I liked that we get both point-of-views, as I think that added another depth to the story. We get to see how both characters feel, which really helps us get to know them better.
I was rooting for Josh and Holly the whole time. They both have gone through much hurt in the years since they've been apart, but they both realize they still have feelings for each other. Understandably, they aren't sure what to do with those feelings since it caused so much hurt the last time.
Even though this is only a novella, I thought this was a pretty fleshed out story. I loved getting to know both of these characters and walk through their feelings with them. All in all, I loved this story
