'Love' is an anthology of readings that celebrates the ideal and the humorously down to earth in relation to love, friendship and marriage across the centuries. Sonnets, poems, wedding blessings, readings from the Bible, and the reflections of various ancient and contemporary writers, together create a tapestry of wisdom about the joys of love and its occasional struggles.
Offering, quite literally, something for everyone, 'Love' offers plenty of choice for those looking to personalise their wedding service.
ROBERT ATWELL compiled and edited the two major collections of spiritual readings for the Christian year - Celebrating the Saints and Celebrating the Seasons. He previously taught patristics and was chaplain at Trinity College, Cambridge, and is presently Vicar of St Mary's, Primrose Hill in London.
"Robert Atwell's compilation of readings is delightful. (...) The readings cover a wide range of writers and a wide span of centuries. (...) I reckon that nearly 50% of them were new to me and so I gained real benefit from this book. (...) This is a book that I will gladly recommend to couples who are planning their marriage and looking for something to be read at the ceremony. (...) I may even be prepared to lend it to them but I will definitely be wanting to keep this book for myself!"
