Lone Star Ranger is a Heartsong Presents western by Renae Brumbaugh. I dont read too many westerns, but this was a delight to read. Elizabeth Covington is a beautiful, headstrong, and highly intelligent woman. Her father and brother, both lawyers, have relied upon her legal prowess behind the scenes. Since it is 1877, she can hardly assist except behind the scenes. While she and her brother are visiting in Houston, he is mistaken for a ruthless murderer and promptly hauled off to jail. Helpless to plead his own case, Elizabeth must hire a lawyer and assist however she can to prove her brothers innocence before his hanging in days.

Texas Ranger, Rett Smith, is the one who arrests Evan. Granted Evan looks quite similar to the killer, but Elizabeths dogged insistence that her brother is not this outlaw weighs heavily on his mind. The sheriff, however, feels that he has his man and wants to put an end to the matter as soon as possible. News that the murderer has been spotted a distance away sends Rett to track down this new piece of evidence.

Evan is Elizabeths only living relative now, and she is not going to let a lead like this disappear. She and Rett set off in full pursuit of the outlaw. The plot is very interesting, and the ending does not disappoint. I highly recommend this western to anyone who likes the old West, romance, and a strong female character. I received this book through TBCN in exchange for an honest review.

Saddle up and hold on, Lone Star Ranger by Renae Burmbaugh will take you into a small town in Texas and the dangerous job of a Texas Ranger! Texas Ranger Rett Smith has arrested Evan Covington and Elizabeth Covington has one week to prove her brother isn't James Weston Hardy a notorious outlaw and cold-blooded murderer who is wanted dead or alive. Pull on your boots and saddle up because Elizabeth is going to take us on a ride of life or death, being caught by the notorious outlaw, a heart pounding escape and just the right amount of romance! I loved riding along with Elizabeth and the Texas Ranger Rett Smith as they hunted down the cold-blooded look a-like. I'd recommend this book. I found I was drawn in from page one and I sighed when I read the last page. I really enjoyed reading Lone Star Ranger! I was gifted a copy by The BookClub Network (bookfun.org) for a review with my honest opinion which I have given.

Elizabeth and her brother, Evan, have just arrived in town and are eating at the local diner when a Texas Ranger arrests Evan. Evan is accused of being a notorious outlaw who is known as a cold-blooded killer. But Elizabeth can't let her brother hang for crimes he didn't commit. So her sets out to prove his innocence. The only thing in her way is the pesky Texas Ranger named Rett. But Elizabeth is not going to let that slow her down.

The story starts off quickly and the tension between the two main characters is very defined. The book was a quick read that I enjoyed. The story focused on the false arrest and the main characters trying to get to the bottom of the story. There wasn't a lot of back story or very many secondary characters since so much of the focus was spent on the accusation. The story ended abruptly and I wasn't ever clear just how the issues with the brother were resolved. Readers of romantic westerns would enjoy the feel and drama of this story.

I received this book free of charge from Book Club Network in exchange for my review.
