Join the Berenstain Bear family and discover all that goes on in both the Chapel in the Woods and Sunday school with this fun and interactive lift-the-flap.
Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005, and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from the family home and studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.
KKCHAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Cute flap book for preschoolersJune 12, 2014KKCHAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This is a cute book made of slick, heavy, cardstock (not cardboard). Most pages have only one sentence. Although some of the flaps are a little small, they aren't tiny. All of them are at least 1 3/4" wide and 2 3/4" tall. The book is 8"X8". The flaps and brief text make it perfect for preschoolers. The subject of attending church is addressed in a traditional manner - traditional church service, using Bibles and hymnals, etc. While I'm not a big fan of Berenstain Bears I really appreciate the publishers' efforts to produce stories dealing with religious life, family, manners, etc. This little book hits the mark.

The story follows the family as they travel to the chapel, go into the chapel meeting the people, sing, read their Bibles, listen to the preacher and go to their own Sunday School class. It follows brother and sister bear in their class and the fun activities they do.
The Berenstain Bears are a classic for me, I've always loved them and this one is no different! I like that it is a shorter story and has the flaps to lift with the ââ¬Ësurprise' under them because younger children can enjoy it more. I have read this book to my two year old niece many times and she loves it! She loves the bears, she loves lifting the flaps to see what is under them, she loves the colors and will tell me the color of each flap as she opens them. Oh and she loves the little rhyme we have all learned "Here's the Church" and so she claims this book because of that rhyme!
I can't say enough good things about this precious little book! The bears are precious, and a wonderful way to teach children about what church is all about. It is so important to start teaching children about church when they are very young, and this is a book you need to do that. Go out and buy a copy for your child's library. It will be well worth it, and well worth your time to read it, spending time with your child talking about church.
I received this book free from Zondervan to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 55
