This book from Maria Goff is full of beautiful reminders for us all. You will read page after page of touching and heartfelt stories that give us examples of how God loves us and how we can love each other. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a desire to refocus on what is truly important in life.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher. This review is my honest opinion.
Love Lives Here is one of the sweetest and most encouraging books I've ever read. Sweet Maria and Bob Goff are wonderfully witty, passionate and kind examples of Jesus. Reading this book is like a front row seat to their lives filled with service and whimsy and love. This book is well organized with stories and the thoughts and lessons learned penned right in the mix. It's definitely a quick page-turner. I've read her stories during a pretty lonely season of my own and have cried as she shares the struggles and victories that each made her beat a little bit stronger with the heart of God. It's must read. And then read again.

I met Bob Goff on a cruise many years ago. After reading his book Love Does, I could see how much in love he was with his sweet Maria.
Therefore, given the opportunity to read her book, I jumped on it. I love the sweet stories Maria tells and how they relate to our heart toward Jesus. Maria has a way of making you feel like you are just sitting down to a cup of coffee with her and having a chat. Her words have a way of reaching the dry places in your soul and helping you to fill them with Jesus. I understand why Bob calls her sweet Maria and can't wait to read more from this author.
If you want to sit with a gentle friend to share their wisdom on their own life, read this book

Bursting with authenticity, insight and gentle wisdom, this book is opening and softening my heart page by page. I love Maria's illustrations she is taking relatable stories in her life, mixing them with beautiful imagery and looking at them through the lens of God's Word. Her words are life-giving and changing my perspective on current things going on in my own life.
If you want to sit with a gentle friend to share their wisdom on their own life, read this book. She doesn't tell you what to do, but more so WHY to do it and what she has figured out so far. I hope to live my life like that, by example, and share insight when I can.
I think sometimes we make following Jesus seem complicated, but it's really simple. Love God, love others. Follow Jesus' model and be WITH people. I love the simple yet compelling wisdom that Maria gives. She found what she was meant to do and did a lot of it. When our lives are built on the foundation of who God has made us to be, then we can uniquely fulfill his purpose for us. She didn't try to be like Bob or make him like her, instead she views herself the way God made her and can see the important role that she does have. Maria talks about marriage, family and life with such honesty and beauty. Sweet Maria, thank you for opening your life so we can get a peek into what you've learned and are learning about love.

To start with I did receive an Advanced Copy for an honest review of the book. So with that out of the way....
I wasn't sure what I was going to get with this book. I prefer deeper theological spiritual books and authentic biographies that allow me to see the growth of a person through the events they have gone through. This book isn't super theological- in fact it's pretty simple- love God, love others. It's sorta biographical in that the reader gets to see how the events of Goff's life have been used to help her be more of who God created her to be.
That is the gold in the book- not the theological truths (there are very little biblical references) but Goff is pretty authentic and the stories she tells are ones that draw you in. She doesn't shy away from the hard nor does she glamorize it. It just is. And that is refreshing. The voice of the stories is such I want to grab a cup of coffee and just sit and watch the boats at the lodge (once it's rebuilt) or near her house. We don't even need to have a long conversation- just a cup of coffee. There is a peacefulness that comes with her personality that transcends the pages and it's hard to not feel it as you read.
For those that like me, like spiritual meat, this ISN'T that- but it is good at what it is- a conversation building book that isn't intimidating and brings hope and peace.
