Fayelle5 Stars Out Of 5Because love livese here with me tooMarch 7, 2017FayelleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5At first I thought this was just going to be a collection of nice anecdotes to make us feel warm and fuzzy. It is so much more than that. The examples and stories are lovely, but they're also real, personal, vulnerable, and challenging. Goff writes in such a comfortable way, so very full of love. She writes as a good friend would to encourage and edify our lives by sharing the details of her own. I am surprised at how much I have read new ways to be challenged without feeling lectured to. So much love lives with her, indeed, and there is much freedom in her stories from her life - freedom to accept love from Christ as we are, freedom to trust and let go, knowing Christ is completely dependable. And then freedom to pour out love on others because love lives here with me too, no matter how messy my life gets!
I received an Advanced Readers Copy from the publisher. This is an honest review.
Megan5 Stars Out Of 5So inspired to love on people!March 6, 2017MeganQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Love Lives Here is a balm to the weary soul, and an inspiration to go forth and love on people.
I was very excited to read Maria Goff's first book. I read and loved her husband's book (Love Does by Bob Goff). And, Love Lives Here does not disappoint!
Her husband affectionately calls her Sweet Maria, and the pet name is as advertised. The author is sweet and gentle while delivering kick-you-in-the-gut truths. I found myself moved to tears without warning in some chapters (in a good way) as she imparts lessons learned through her personal experiences.
My personal favorites of the lessons taught in this book: how to overcome loss ("Sad is okay, stuck isn't helpful."), the concept if finding a "board of directors" for your life, loving your neighbors, being healthy yourself is the best way to serve others, simplifying hospitality, and making a safety net for your husband and children at home.
Side Note: For those of you who read Bob Goff's book, she tells their love story from her side, which is fantastic. I also love that she gave her and Bob's Enneagram numbers in the book. Knowing this, I could understand and relate to them even more!
Her writing style is very similar to her husband's. There are no verbatim Bible verses, but many Biblical truths and Bible story retellings in simple language.
