The Artist LibrarianAge: 18-24Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Accesible & Fun Coloring Book!June 15, 2016The Artist LibrarianAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Mrs. Bookworm's Review:
Unlike my daughters, who love the intricately detailed illustrations of many adult coloring books, I felt too intimidated by the complex designs. Live Free contains some simpler picture designs that coordinate with selected verses of scripture from the Bible (which I love). I also enjoyed the journal area (a place to record prayer, reflections, journal, doodle, etc.).
The time spent coloring the designs give me a lot of time to pray, meditate on scripture, and really immerse myself into God's Word. It also gives me a chance to explore my creative side --expressing myself through coloring the designs.
I'm looking forward to getting Margaret Feinberg's Live Loved and Live Fearless coloring books soon!
[Disclosure: The Artist Librarian received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for review purposes.]
Susan Barrett4 Stars Out Of 5Great Verses; Wish it was LongerApril 7, 2016Susan BarrettQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 4Live Free is an adult coloring book by Margaret Feinberg that is published by Bethany House. I really really like this coloring book because of its specifically targeted verses to meditate on Christ's love for us while we color. The verses are very powerful and the designs are beautiful. Some are intricate; some aren't. It's a good balance. This would be great to give as a gift or to use in your own personal quiet time. The pages are a good size and thickness for bearing down on, but the book itself is a little flimsy because it is not very thick. At only 48 pages, my main complaint is that I want more to color! However, I did really like how this wasn't just another coloring book. This one has room for journaling or writing prayers out on the back of the pictures to help you focus on the Scripture's promises. I would recommend getting this one!
Thank you so much to Bethany House publishers for providing me with a copy of this book to review. All opinions are my own and were not required to be positive, nor was I compensated in any way aside from receiving the book itself.
Teddy GAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5High Quality, Great CombinationMarch 15, 2016Teddy GAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 5This adult coloring book is a creative combination of journal, coloring book, and scripture study. It encourages its user to linger on each page, drawing the printed scripture into their hearts and minds. Each coloring page comes with an accompanying journal page for reflections and prayers. There are no journaling or prayer prompts, just pure scripture to inspire and reflect upon.
The coloring pages themselves are a good mix of geometric, floral, and nature designs. The paper is high quality and I have had no leak-through with the gel pens I've been using. My only complaint with this book might be that there aren't enough pages!
I really enjoy this adult coloring book craze, and I was excited to receive this one as a review copy from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.
LeAnneGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Live Free: An Adult Coloring BookMarch 15, 2016LeAnneGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I really love this coloring book! It has beautiful pictures in it, and each picture has a different Bible scripture right there in it. Which makes all the pictures even more meaningful. I love how the pictures have a simply elegant look to them, but at the same time they have a lot of details that are fun to color in. And the details add such depth to the finished piece of art. Plus I was very impressed with the quality of the paper in this coloring book. It has a very nice thickness and should last a long time.
I received this book free from Bethany House Publishers for my honest review. The opinions are my own.
Paula GreeneKansasAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Quiet Time ToolMarch 14, 2016Paula GreeneKansasAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After my daughter's accident, she went to counseling for post-traumatic stress. The counselor told her that coloring would help soothe her, that the coloring of patterns was healing by re-mapping the brain. I decided to try it for myself.
The theme of this coloring book is based on who you are in Christ with opportunity to reflect on how you define yourself and how God truly defines you. While coloring the intricate patterns and designs, you can absorb the truth of who we are in Christ and that this can set us free from expectations and from always trying to measure up. Each page has a coloring page of flowery/nature designs with a verse from the Bible reflecting the theme of our identity. On the adjacent page, the lines for journaling while coloring can be used to reflect and organize your thoughts into words. While coloring, I could memorize the verse, meditate on it, pray, write down my reflections, and draw closer to God because coloring gave me focus.
This book could be an excellent tool for devotional time or to carve out a quiet space in your day to slow down and de-stress.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.
