Derek5 Stars Out Of 5My 10-year old LOVES theseAugust 18, 2020DerekQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Bought for my son's 10th birthday. He is a voracious reader and he is working through book 1 right now. I was afraid because my ex gets him Xbox games etc. -- how can a box of books compete? But he has repeatedly told me how much he enjoys these books since getting them. He reads them at night while at my house. Very nice quality and price.

Kelly S. K. Garrett5 Stars Out Of 5The Little House Series by Laura Ingles WilderFebruary 3, 2017Kelly S. K. GarrettQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0We are enjoying the Little House series as part of our study on historical communities. We just finished book one titled "Little House in the Big Woods". Because Laura gained experience describing things and places in detail to Mary after she lost her sight, her descriptions and explanations of the different events make it easy to draw your own mental picture. Not only does she cause the reader to enjoy following this pioneer family through various seasons snd events, she educates them on life skills of the past through her own first hand experience. In the first book, Little House in the Big Woods, p194-198 talks about collecting honey from bee trees. Pages 6-9, teaches how to smoke and cure meat. Page 186-190 teaches cheese making, and p117-130 teaches how to tap maple trees and make maple syrup. All of these skills were necessary for families to know how to do for themselves. I personally believe that even in our modern world with advanced technology, that it is important to learn and know how to use these skills. Reading the Little House series teaches life skills in a fun and entertaining way.
