Publisher's Description

Revisit one of the most beloved books in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic Little House series with this gorgeous hardcover, unjacketed edition of Little House on the Prairie, featuring new, iconic cover art, no interior art, and a special foreword.

When Laura Ingalls and her family leave their little house in the Big Woods of Wisconsin, they head west for the open prairie skies of Kansas Territory. They travel for many days in their covered wagon until they find the perfect spot for Pa to build them a new home. Soon they are planting and plowing, hunting wild ducks and turkeys, and gathering grass for their cows. But just when they begin to feel settled, they are caught in the middle of a dangerous conflict.

Based on the real-life adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House on the Prairie is the third book in the award-winning Little House series, which has captivated generations of readers with its depiction of life on the American frontier.

Author Bio

Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867–1957) was born in a log cabin in the Wisconsin woods. With her family, she pioneered throughout America’s heartland during the 1870s and 1880s, finally settling in Dakota Territory. She married Almanzo Wilder in 1885; their only daughter, Rose, was born the following year. The Wilders moved to Rocky Ridge Farm at Mansfield, Missouri, in 1894, where they established a permanent home. After years of farming, Laura wrote the first of her beloved Little House books in 1932. The nine Little House books are international classics. Her writings live on into the twenty-first century as America’s quintessential pioneer story.

This review was written for Little House on the Prairie, Little House #2.
Young Laura Ingalls has to watch from the back of a covered wagon her house in the woods become smaller and smaller as her Pa drives the Ingall family down to the prairies of Kansas. It's hot and dry and the Indians are fun to see for little Laura. But the indians start multiplying. Pa says that the neighbors say they are planning on destroying the 'White Men' from their land. One night as Laura is lying asleep, she awakes with a start to a dreadful, hair-prickling, blood-curdling cry. Pa calls it, the Indian War Cry.

I've reviewed the Little House in the Big Woods just a few minutes ago and decided I should reveiw the rest of them. I just completed this one last summer during the time I was sick. I loved it. It is very nicely made. As I said in the other reveiws the pages aren't like regular paper so they don't rip as easily. And the cover is softcover but it is porotected very nicely. Highly recommended.
