Throughout this plush-covered book little ones learn that theyre loved and cared for by God as they hear about Gods faithfulness in stories from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. With sweet, rhyming text and colorful illustrations, this soft and cuddly character storybook Bible is sure to become a classic with preschoolers.

P. J. Lyons wrote the charming text with rhyming couplets that retell popular Bible stories from Creation through the Resurrection, with the Scripture references given for each. Four come from the Old Testament and four from the New, with the Christmas one being my favorite. Born where sheep and cows were kept, In their feedbox, Jesus slept. This would appeal to boys or girls, and other animal friends are also available, like a lion and a lamb.
The book is colorfully illustrated with kid-pleasing scenes. However, the light color of the plush covered book's back would easily soil, and I dont see how you could keep it cleanan unfortunate drawback to this charming book idea. Each comes in a thick plastic case that snaps shut, but I doubt youngsters will want to store the book inside, and young children would probably have trouble getting it back inside by themselves.
I recommend this darling picture-poem book. It would make a great gift for a new baby or for a little ones birthday or Easter.

The cover is perfect for little fingers that like to feel softness. The beak and little wings are even movable. The inside is a sturdy board book. No worrying about ripping pages! Little Chicks Bible has eight Bible stories written with easy to read rhythm and rhyme ("...The soldiers all ran off afraid. Just the young boy David stayed...."), which is so great for little ears to hear. Each story is eight lines long with an appropriate illustration to go with it. This children's Bible doesn't even scratch the surface of Bible stories compared to children's Bibles for older kids, but it could make a very fun and meaningful gift for a tiny person.

The book includes eight Bible stories and pictures designed for the non-reader and their parents to share The front and back cover made of yellow felt-like material. The tips of the chicks beak and wings are floppy and can be pulled away from the surface of the book, allowing the book to be part toy, as well as a fun book. We will look forward to giving our copy to our 1-year-old and 6-month-old grandchildren this Easter.

Love to ReadAge: 35-44Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Little Chick's Bible by P. J. Lyons, Melanie Mitchell is a true treasure. I will most defiantly be purchasing more for all my friends and family with little ones.January 31, 2015Love to ReadAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Little Chick's Bible by P. J. Lyons, Melanie Mitchell is a lovely plush childrens Bible board book. This collection of eight historical events has been retold in a unique and ingenious way that will capture any child attention and curiosity of Gods word. The cover is a soft yellow chicken with movable arms and beak. Each section consists of two sturdy but not too thick board book pages. The first page includes the historical event title, a Bible verse where the original event may be found, a beautifully simplified authors version, and a Little Chicks Bible seal. The second page is a full side artistic illustration that brings to life the words your child is either hearing or reading; depending on the childs age. The artwork creations are full color and charmingly designed to keep little eyes moving about the page in exploration, really bringing the Bible to life.
I absolutely love Lyons version of the Bible for children. It is durable enough for daily use, and is well constructed. Children from newborn to about five years old will cherish and benefit greatly with this book. In simplifying the passages Lyons was able to create something that not only captures the reader and introduces them to poetry but also honestly conveys the Biblical principles and truths of Gods Word. The font size and selection along with the word usage make this book and excellent reader for the older child who is beginning to read. There are many sight and sound words along with more thought-provoking passages that will keep the challenged and introduce new vocabulary.
I would most defiantly recommend this book to everyone with infants or young children. I personally plan on purchasing a few copies. One for my great niece and as gifts for the many baby showers I will be attending. It is a gift everyone will appreciate.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Book Look Bloggers in exchange for this an honest review.
cindyGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Sweet Introduction to Bible StoriesJanuary 17, 2015cindyGender: femaleQuality: 5Little Chicks Bible is a delightful Bible story book for children ages 2-5. It is a soft, cuddly book with a plush cover featuring a soft chick that preschoolers will enjoy touching. Inside there are seven stories fon cardboard pages that will stand up to wear and tear like any board book. The stories are written in rhyme and include Noah and the ark, David and Goliath, the Good Samaritan, and others.
I think this is a great book for introducing Bible stories to very young children; nothing deep theologically speaking (it's for toddlers and preschoolers, after all) but appealing with colorful illustrations, rhyming, and the plushy chick on the cover.
I have a little granddaughter that I'm sure will enjoy this book. The publisher indicates that it is for ages 2-5 but I think a one-year-old would enjoy it as well.
