I had the privilege of meeting Leanne and asking her to sign the book for me. In a nut shell Leanne's ministry and others who have sat under her and gone forth with the same type healing word has saved my life. I would have never known that Our God will speak to us if we will just learn to close out everything else ,sit still and listen.
This is an interesting book that contains a lot of insights, but in the end, it doesn't tell you much about how to hear God's voice, even though the title promises to. It's a very academic kind of book, and not at all straightforward. That doesn't mean it's not worth reading, just that you should know what you're getting into. I'd say the book is more about prayer than listening prayer per se. Even though the book is good, the sad part is that the author herself is very hypocritical and verbally abusive and doesn't practice what she preaches. So, if you do read this book, as long as you stay away from the author and her ministry, I think you'll be just fine.
"Listening Prayer" is a powerful book. Ms. Payne shares from a wealth of experience about how to have intimate fellowship with God. I doubt that I'll have time to implement her journaling technique until my kids are grown, but the rest of the book stands alone as an edifying discussion on listening to God in prayer. My only hesitation with the book is that it is more challenging to read than most.
This book will help you to discover your own relationship with the Lord. Ms. Payne is a gifted writer who knows how to bring the Presence of the Lord alive to her readers. I don't want to live on other people's relationship with God, I want my own. Leanne Payne has helped me to find God for myself!
