Our culture is self-obsessed in our schedules, relationships, and especially online. (Can you say selfie?) But in this near-narcissism, people are less content than in decades past. Why? Because we forgot the joy that comes from putting others first. Doing so requires us to live alert, listening for "heart drops," hints from those in our lives who need a helping hand or a generous dose of encouragement. Living alert lifts our own spirits, showing us that blessing others blesses us even more.
Listen, Love, Repeat offers biblical teaching and suggests doable actions that are simple, heart-tugging, sentimental, even sneaky and hilarious. This message:
• Presents scriptural examples of those who lived alert, including Jesus, who noticed those who least expected to be seen.
• Explains the role of good works for followers of Christ. They arent our ticket to heaven but they are our marching orders on earth.
• Gives creative ideas for showing love to friends and family, and suggests practical ways to reach out to the lonely, the marginalized, the outcast, and the odd duck. Additionally, it helps you comfort the grieving, showing what you can do when you dont know what to say.
• Provides inspiration for blessing the "necessary people" in your life, those often-overlooked souls who help you get life done every day, and teaches you how to hug a porcupine by genuinely loving the hard-to-love.
As we scatter love, we create a safe space where we can openly share the gospel. We get to see lives changed right before our eyes. Most importantly, Listen, Love, Repeat will enable you to live a life that is full of kind deeds, not to selfishly shout, "Hey! Look at me!" but to humbly implore, "Will you look at Him?"

AlaskanAmy5 Stars Out Of 5Another Great Book by Karen EhmanDecember 31, 2016AlaskanAmyQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I love Karen Ehman and look to her as a mentor in my life even though I have never met her. She always gives wisdom to women in any stage of life. Listen, Love and Repeat did not disappoint me as it made me rethink how I often I show kindness in everyday life.
I loved her idea to listening to heart drops of those around me. I kept heart drops in mind when I purchased Christmas gifts this year. I have a job where I talk to other moms daily and I am consciously trying to show kindness and a listening ear to them.
Karen is an inspiration for hospitality and I was reminded in this book that people would rather be loved in an imperfect home than not be invited at all. As always Karens recipes never disappoint and her Peanut Butter Monster Oatmeal Cookies are a new favorite for my children.
I received an advanced copy of Listen, Love and Repeat, but I would have definitely bought this book to add to my collection of Karens books. Most of my books end up at the used book store, but this one will be reread yearly.

Linda5 Stars Out Of 5Let's start a movement!November 22, 2016LindaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was given an advanced reading copy of Listen, Love, Repeat by Karen Ehman for an honest review of the book.
This is a wonderful book written with much love and insight. Our world needs this kind of book, especially right now. The subtitle of the book says it all Other-centered living in a self-centered world. It seems that today people are more concerned about getting their voice heard than listening to others. They want to make sure they get what they want and have no concern for what anyone else may want or need.
This book sets out to change that. It prompts you to look at others differently; not to see them as those that get in the way of what you want but as an opportunity to give back; to lend a helping hand; to show love and kindness. What makes Karens insights particularly helpful is that she doesnt just tell you to get over yourself and start being nicer to others. There are real, practical ideas in the book. She addresses different types of people that you may come across and fun easy ways to sprinkle kindness as she puts it. She even helps to uncover methods you can use to bestow kindness on those around you that may be hard to love like the grumpy neighbor or the unruly kid. Everyone can use some kindness shown their way, the hard to love most of all.
I really enjoyed the book, the lessons, the personal stories and the ideas! I hope to encourage my family to spread kindness now and throughout the new year. If you are tired of all the negativity and anger going around in the world today, get this book and follow the suggestions to bring more love and kindness to those around you. Maybe it will start a movement!
KyannapCedar Rapids, IAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Relatable & you'll start acting upon what you read.November 21, 2016KyannapCedar Rapids, IAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book will make you STOP to Listen, Love, Repeat. The personal stories that Karen shares not only make her relatable but the purpose of the book relatable. You will find yourself scattering kindness and maybe even stepping outside of your comfort zone to do so. I not only tuned in more to my family members, but to other people that crossed my path throughout the day. The movement that came out of this book, #5dollardash, will warm your heart. This is a quick and easy read. There may be a little bit of repetition throughout chapters, but hey, that's how we talk. I bought a couple of copies to share with friends and family. My hope is that they pass it along to their family & friends. Disclaimer: I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
