I think I've heard that this is the last of the Remnant Series from Vannetta. I have loved this series so much more than I thought I would. It took me so long to actually buy the first book, but once I did, I've been hooked.

This book ties up the ends for the most part, but I think there could be more visits to these characters! (Hey Vannetta, are you listening?) The primary message I got from this particular book is that faith in God and His mercy will carry us through our trials, and though we might not see God at the very moment of the crisis we will be able to look at our path once it's over and see how He has worked. And I loved how the characters in the story never gave up on each other, and always had the greater good for the whole group in mind.

This conclusion to the Remnant series is an awesome one. After reading the first two books -- and yes, you have to read all three books in order -- I wondered how the series could possibly end in any kind of realistic way but somehow move beyond the chaos and loss that the characters had experienced from the beginning of the disaster. Hope was an important thread throughout all three books, and it somehow had to shine through to the end. It did, and brilliantly!

I have to say that it was scary to think how the scenarios in this series were sometimes so close to possibly appearing in today's headlines. The reminders of God's presence and the strength that comes from it, though, are more real and timeless even in this work of fiction.

I believe Light of Dawn -- as well as Deep Shadows and Raging Storm -- should appeal to a wide audience, and I would highly recommend these five-star reads!

I was hooked on Vannetta Chapman's The Remnant series when I read its prequel, Overshadowed. I'm glad there are three books that follow! With each book after, the endings had me wanting more. This fast-paced series has come to a conclusion with Light of Dawn.

I have really enjoyed all four books in this series. I think they should be read in order because each ends with a cliff hanger, except Light of Dawn. I also feel they would be best read by thirteen year olds or older due to the nature of what it takes to survive. Vannetta gives the reader a few good reminders - we can't survive alone, technology can fail us, and God is always in control even when the world is in chaos. Like all good writing, Light of Dawn's ending is only the beginning. The reader gets to imagine how life continues on for the characters. But I hope some day Vannetta chooses to write more about them. l was provided a complimentary review copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. Light of Dawn by Vannetta Chapman finishes a three book series, The Remnant, regarding a solar flare that knocked out electrical grids all over the United States. Continuing with the main characters from the previous books, readers are taken for a suspenseful ride as Shelby, Max, and Carter have volunteered to help the Texas governor. She needs help from the federal government, but who even knows if it exists? And if it does, where and what good would it do? Could they help? Life is full of loss and grief, so much desolation and emptiness that seems to tear at one's soul. It is a moment by moment existence; so much had been taken for granted before the devastation. Would their faith in God's help and guidance be shaken or affirmed? The author brings the story to an end with edge of the seat suspense and fast-paced action, tornadoes and ambushes and yet occasionally a refuge in the middle of nowhere. I liked seeing how Shelby's son, Carter matured throughout the series. With her well-researched storytelling, she brought her readers a satisfactory amount of romance too. Light of Dawn is a story of faith, family and friends and hope for the future.

I won a complimentary copy of the book in a contest and was not required to write a review.
